Arrived at 4 pm on a gloriously sunny Saturday looking forward to having an enjoyable drink with the family at this well-established pub of good reputation and felt very let down. Member of staff serving behind the bar simply sat down looking quite bored. We asked for a bottle of chardonnay, received a withering look as it was obtained then... More

Popped in (based on a recommendation from a lovely local B&B - Croft Cottage Holidays) and was not disappointed! An absolutely superb Sunday Lunch using locally sourced ingredients washed down by some local ales. Although the restaurant was really busy, they still managed to squeeze us in and the service was excellent. Would thoroughly recommend!

Food was ok but service was not good at all despite not being massively busy. They asked if we wanted drinks but hadn't bought us the drinks list, said they would come back to take drinks order but didn't after dropping list off. Ordered bread & olives to arrive pre starters. Next starters arrive & we haven't had bread &... More

We went to the Mill Race for a special celebration. Food was not good, one starter was described as with 'quail's egg' and came with only half a quails egg! What happened to the other half we wondered, how cheap is that! The steaks which were bigged up on the menu were incredibly tough. A mixed fish grill was ordered... More

A cut above the average village pub. We had Sunday lunch which was great quality. An interesting mix of dishes and the rare sirloin of beef I had of my main course was exceptional. A good selection of beer with friendly staff and great service. Definitely worth the visit!

This was a great birthday lunch! A contemporary gastro pub with a relaxed atmosphere, ambient surroundings ( in winter a double facing log burner) , friendly efficient service, and excellent locally sourced food. There was a comprehensive menu (including vegetarian),ranging from a light lunch ( bar type food) to a 3 course meal. Easy parking and pristine toilets! I was very impressed by... More

I really like this place. The welcome and food was very good but the service was a bit slow. I think they were short staffed which is not good on a Sunday lunchtime with only two staff looking after both diners and the bar. Still we were not in a rush but a bit more warmth would also have been... More

We popped in here late one evening after a busy day out walking, the food was amazing. We especially enjoyed the home made soup and steak burgers. The pub was very bust the entire time were there with many people eating which is always a good sign. Would definitely visit again next time we are in the area.

On arrival the outside looked inviting with the exterior of a country pub and as we stepped inside we were not let down. There was a log burning fire on the go and a nice buzz in the room. It is more of a foodie pub although there is a bar and seats just for drinking away from the restaurant... More

First visit, group of 7 at lunch. Really great menu choice and we had a range of dishes, all looked great and most were well received. I had the "Fish Mixed Grill", a selection of fish which looked amazing. Spoilt for me though with such a heavy/strong "drizzle", shame as it masked the flavour of the fish. Very good value... More
