Back for more, excellent as before.

On 'balance' this place really has it 'nailed'. Even though there may be more than one way of achieving the objective Ayrton and his staff are brilliant! See you soon we hope with the pooch next time. Seriously: good food, comfy beds, great host! Will be back,

I'm a regular visitor to the Hostelrie and often drag friends up from London. It's very well run, charming and friendly and a great base to explore the wye valley and the forest of dean. In fact, I'll say it's better than staying in symonds yat which can feel a bit touristy! I recommend a walk up to the view... More

I booked a table for myself and my Wife at the last minute during a busy Christmas party period as we were visiting my Sister who lives nearby. The staff were more than accommodating and even changed it to a table for five when my Sister decided to join us with her family. Atmosphere was warm and cosy with a... More

Good Sunday lunch, very good traditional Sunday roast, good service, only downside was in asking for a Yorkshire pudding to go with my meal as I did not order the roast beef to be charged a £1 for it, really guys !!

We booked to stay at this place because it was genuinely dog-friendly and good value (and close to Goodrich Castle) but didn't realise we would be in for one of the great meals of our lives! I loved the attention to locally sourced ingredients, and all the information they give on their local suppliers (which led me to the local... More

I occasionally pop in here for a pint and, especially during the summer when there are holiday people in the hotel, I have noticed the tables are full in the restaurant. I mistakenly thought that as there were burgers advertised on blackboards, that it was mainly fastish food. My wife and I decided to try it out and was I... More
