We visited the bakery 3 mornings. It was good. Wry good actually. However, the big surprise was the dinner we had at the restaurant one night. We didn’t know they served dinner but saw a hand painted signs that said “dinner tonight. 5:00”. I popped...my head in and made a rez for our friends and ourselves for that evening. It was spectacular!!! It is a small menu but very considered. We had the black cod and oysters and some of the best bread I’ve ever had. There is a nice wine list and even a nicer server! I’d go back in a heartbeat!More

We stopped in for fuel and refreshments. The bakery is fun and delicious. Great little wayside stop where you can fuel, use the restroom, shop a little, and get some coffee to go.

Phenomenal dinner worthy of Michelin stars on Californias Central Coast. Starters included oysters with pear mignonette, local Tuna with Persimmon and a velvety squash bisque. The main course was a beautifully cooked ribeye with lingonberry’s and truffle. The meal was stunning, paired with fantastic wines...in a beautiful setting. I cannot say enough good things, the meal was perfect and I can’t wait to return.More

Heard so many good things about this place, we decided to head there for breakfast as we had heard it was good. There was no "breakfast" to speak of, we ended up having muffins and coffee - all very average and massively overpriced - spent...$70 on 4 pastries and 4 coffees - outrageous. Also the staff were quite arrogant - obviously trading on all the hype about the place. The music played there, however, was great.More

We got here as I saw all the ig pic and reviews, it was totally far form the reality The menu was so basic and poor.. No soups, no nice salads, no sandwiches.. only omelette with a green salad and avocado toast .. The dished...served are completely opposite form which I previously saw on the web.. At the beginning I thought I was in the wrong place but when I realize we just got a pan de chocolate and a coffe (nothing special) and we left really disappointed.More

Returning to BSB after 7 years absence, the clientele are even more rude; the prices are higher (although not as high as I would have thought); but the food is good.

Extremely small portions for a high price. What I thought was an appetizer was the main course! Don’t come Hungary. If you’re on a budget - this is not your place.

Very limited dinner menu and several dishes were sold out. Servings are extremely small and extremely pricey ($38 per plate for literally about 5 bites of food). My husband and I both ordered the salmon and it was flavorless, not unappetizing, but certainly not savory...in any regard. We do not recommend this spot for dinner.More

Here's the deal. This little bakery has a nice setting with pretty gardens and comfortable places to enjoy your vittles, both inside and outside. They seem to run out of stuff, it's not run very efficiently, it's too slow, and the prices can be high...(the avocado toast ridiculously so). That said, it's damn delicious and it felt so good being and eating there. Yup, I went back the next day.More

The title says it all! We ate here with our son and his wife for a special occasion. My husband and I typically split an entree and still have food left over -- we are not big eaters. But here, despite the high price of...entrees ($50+ for most things), even one entree per person left all 4 of us hungry. We ordered a bread basket ($10) and that helped a bit, but we all wished for bigger portions on our main food. Barely 4-5 bites of fish, same with steak, etc. It's very tasty and beautifully presented, though. But I would say the entrees were the size of appetizers, and that just doesn't seem right at these prices.More

The pastries and breakfast are out of this world! We got there around 10 or 10:30 in the morning off-season (and on a weekday). and bought the very last loaf of bread. Highly recommended as we managed to get two or three more other meals...out of it-picnics. The crust is thick on the bread so might be helpful to bring a knife from home for cutting although tearing is probably just as fine. Not sure how they manage to get a nice thick smoky crust and Still have the bread be nice and moist inside. I’d like to duplicate this at home but I don’t think I’m going to be able to. So, recommend either going there off-season or getting there super early in the morning.More

We were extremely shocked over how hyped this place are compared to what you really get here. The bread felt like yesterdays. Not fresh. 2 croissants and 2 coffee 37 dollars. It was extremely overpriced. Three young guys trying to keep up with the long...line outside. Very slow and unprofessional service. Next time we passed by the bakery- we didn't stop. And we will never come back again. TOURIST TRAPMore

We forgot our coffee grinder, so we had to buy coffee each morning. We tried most of the cafes in the area and Big Sur Bakery has the best drip coffee. We didn’t try espresso drinks or baked goods because they were a bit expensive...(but average for the area)—they looked amazing tho.More

We LOVE the Big Sur Bakery! We always eat here at least once when we're in Big Sur. Sadly, they were not serving dinner this time (due to Covid I believe), only lunch. We were in Big Sur for five days and had lunch here...twice. Lovely salads, hearty bread and delicious croissants. Very friendly staff. Nice outdoor seating overlooking fruit trees and the Big Sur mountains. We hope they are offering dinners again next time we're down, as we really miss their pizzas and other dinner offerings.More
