We didn't know what to expect from this restaurant but we were in for a treat. Reservations are a must and hard to get by. We got a 5.30PM spot for dinner. The restaurant opens at this time only so we waited outside but the...environment of the hotel was super nice. Old west feel. After we were seated at a nice table by the Robinson Jeffers corner, we took in our surrounding. The interior was a mix of English, Old World, Old West mix. We had a 3-courses dinner but we cannot insist enough. Pay attention to the specials! We had few of these and they were exceptional (and include the catch-off the day). The 3-cheese-figs salad was a magnificent exercise of flavor balancing which created a different lovely experience for connaisseur's taste buds. The risotto was another example of the Chef prowess. Despite using fresh veggies, it didn't come out overly "soggy" nor "dry". Perfect texture. And the desserts were out of this world. The overall price per person was in the high side but we had a lovely local wine AND the service was impeccable. Not sure where the staff has been trained but this was high-end discretion and efficiency. We are still mad at us for miscalculating the tip and we will compensate for it next time we dine here because we will come back. This was a Michelin-star experience and I am not sure why it hasn't made the list yet. In short, fun location, exceptional service and unbelievably delicious culinary experience.More

This restaurant ticked every box and met my expectations. The building itself is cosy & warm with ambient lighting which is lovely on a cold big sur day. As I am vegetarian I have struggled to get a decent “proper” breakfast but I have to...say their vegetarian breakfast was a 10/10. Absolute must if wanting a full stomach before exploring the coast and big sur. very friendly service too. I would 100% come back next time I visit big sur!!More

Darling rustic quaint setting with lovely classical music for Sunday morning - we ordered their Eggs Benedict - I was very impressed with how fresh and well prepared everything was - coffee was delicious too! Best breakfast I’ve had in a long time - drive...from Aptos (70 miles south on Hwy 1) was gorgeous!More

This is always a must stop spot for us when in Big Sur. The breakfast never disappoints and the eclectic decor is always amusing. Highly recommend the pancakes with pure maple syrup and the French toast.

Such a charming place for breakfast. Great food. Attentive staff. Cottage like setting. Good French toast and bacon. Scrambled eggs with mushrooms and spinach was yummy. Can see why it had so many trip advisor great reviews.

Not sure if I said something wrong or if we didn’t appear high class enough or if it was because we weren’t white but the server was condescending to us. Very uncomfortable. We had to leave before the food so can’t comment about that. Such...a contrast to Nepenthe where everyone was so lovely.More

What a fabulous place to visit in Big Sur. We stayed 3 nights at Post Ranch Inn and dined here our first night. Cosy and quirky with excellent food. My husband is still taking about the seafood paella

In the dark and quirky dining room we were transported to a place out of time. The care that went into the food preparation left us very impressed, Clearly this is a place for foodies. The place deserves a couple of Michelin stars.

We stayed in the Deetjens Big Sur Inn so making a reservation at the restaurant seemed the obvious thing to do. Given the rustic-but-charming theme in the sleeping accommodations, we had only modest expectations for the restaurant, but we were certainly wrong. The food was...expensive but fabulous, and the atmosphere was as charming as could be. We had a table by the fire in a fairly dimly lit dining room. Every table was occupied and everyone seemed to be having a good time; many were repeaters. This was a very pleasant surprise and we would love to eat there again.More

Had breakfast there twice. Awesome food, cozy and eclectic decor, attentive staff and clean restroom. Pancake and maple syrup were a huge hit as were the home style potatoes. A little overpriced but not unexpected for California rates.
