This place as the first restaurant on the Big Sur strip. There are three other places to eat after this one. We went to the deli and bought wraps and burritos. The food was good and plentiful, made to order. The have tables outside to sit and eat. There are stores with local crafts around. Overall, it was a nice... More

Been coming here for the 30 YEARS. Never again. They shut the main door and herd you to the side door. Food is awful.the 14 .00 hamburger is the size of a cookie. They rearranged the restaurant ? Looks TERRIBLE. Never. Never will return to this establishment.

Good spot for a meal. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside and had a view of the river which runs across the property. Very scenic little spot with a good lunch and dinner menu. We sat outside facing the river and enjoyed salads and sandwiches. Worth a visit. Service was good.

We are a mixed race couple (Hispanic mixed and Asian) We stopped at the Big Sur inn for a bite to eat, but were treated very poorly by the hostess. When my wife asked for the manager, he as well acted as if she was at fault and offered no apology for the hostess' actions. His final comment to us... More

We popped in on our way from Monterey to Pismo beach and so wish we had know about this little gem before hand as we would have stayed for a couple of nights. The place is so relaxing and we ordered some coffees to drink down "in" the river. Yep that's right there is seating in the river for you... More

Okay, so mixed title. The place is great! You're in the middle of the redwood trees, next to the BIg Sur River, chairs in the river so you can dip your toes. Can't be beat. The food is good, and I love their selection of beer. BUT- it's expensive. It's a little roadhouse, but I always remember the location and... More

Driving south on Highway 1 came across this nice little break from all the curves in the road. Pretty location, menu was limited for lunch but serving size nice. A little pricey but expected with limited options on this stretch of road. Enjoyed the break and the meal.

We were traveling down Highway 1 and realized we were really hungry. I had made notes on food recommendations from locals I had found while planning the trip (rather than just relying on T.A.) and Big Sur River Inn was on the list. We would not have stopped otherwise. It really looks like a crazy, touristy place. This is a... More

Don't get me wrong the food is very good. Local and seasonal. But you go to Big Sur to experience nature. Feel the Redwoods, listen to the Big Sur River flow past the deck where you are enjoying a wonderful Sunday Brunch and listening to great local music. We live an hour and a half away from Big Sur and... More

Attended a wedding of approximately 150 guests. Reception was handled all by Big Sur River Inn and Resort. Lovely grounds and accommodations! Food and service was excellent - even for a group this large! Bar area has a large dance floor. Excellent micro-brew selection on tap. I would recommend!
