During July we were fortunate enough to be renting a holiday cottage locally and were a few minutes walk from this great pub. Took the family here after a walk along the coast path and also after watching the cast and film crew at work on the third (final) series of Broadchurch (the beach-football match). The staff were attentive and... More

This pub/restaurant is amazing; excellent food and good service , on the two occasions we visited it was so busy that we thought we wouldn't get a table and at first were really disappointed but the lovely waiting staff found us one both times. There is so much on the menu ; the pie menu is extensive and on our... More

We called in on a wet Friday evening for a drink before moving on to find a meal. However, after checking out the menu we decided to stay where we were and order food at The George. We ate in the bar as the restaurant was booked. I had to wait at the bar for a good five minutes while... More

This is an old school pub in every sense of the word - menu from the 70s/80s with no hint of Mr Oliver's innovations, but well executed and with plenty of options - very friendly service which was a lovely surprise given the outside looked like a locals' haunt not so welcome to outsiders - Broadchurch fans will be satisfied

Everything about this place was Excellent, when we arrived you could see that the restaurant was very busy however the staff managed to get us a table straight away without fuss. The service was good and we were made to feel very welcome. The food came out very quickly considering how busy it was which I was pleasantly surprised about.... More

The George is located on the Harbour in the heart of West Bay, Dorset. This striking Georgian building stands proudly on the harbourside of this popular fishing village, made famous by being the backdrop to the recent BBC Tv series "Broadchurch".The hotel has recently been taken over (01/10/2013) by Chris and Kim and they are busy welcoming guests new and old to The George. The hotel is open all day and serves fresh locally sourced home cooked from the restaurant, including daily specials using fish sourced from the fishing boats in the harbour. The bar serves a good selection of wines and exceptional real ales from Palmers Brewery, located a mile away in Bridport. There is plenty to do in the area, with several of breathtaking coastal walks and leisurely strolls along the beach front. There are several charter boats waiting to take keen sea fishing visitors, or a Rib taxi that will take you to nearby Lyme Regis and return a couple of hours later. Whether you are looking for a adrenalin packed weekend, or simply a relaxing break by the beautiful harbour, The George Hotel is the place to stay. Chris and Kim look forward to welcoming you to The George soon.
