We were staying nearby so this was client for dinner. Accessed by very narrow lanes the pub has a traditional look and feel. Beers were good from St. Austell Brewery. Apparently there is a very new owner and it was a little evident in assigning a table for us. Waiting staff were attentive and pleasant. There is a very extensive... More

Good Pub grub at reasonable prices. The food was good and there was plenty of it. (If anything there was too much)!! Reasonable price.

We visited on a Sunday, we had booked the day before. We were a party of 5 adults and 3 children. The staff looked harassed, I'm not sure but they seemed understaffed. We had to ask for menus etc. The lady behind the bar, possibly the manager/owner, didn't smile the whole time. The food was ok. This place has great... More

Pleasantly surprised that a Cornish pub in the middle of virtually nowhere serves food on a Monday night! It was curry night and as someone who looooves curry I had to have one. Great beer but portion was too big. And the pieces of beef were gargantuan too. It's easy to fall into the trap of offering big portions to... More

Been here a few times over the past few months since I 'found' it (you don't often pass Pillaton on your way anywhere!) and each time have been impressed by the efficiency of the staff, the quality of the food and amount of choice on the menu. Very friendly and accomodating and certainly one of the best around here. Dined... More

Visited recently and booked in advance as it was a weekend.Just as well as it is popular with the locals. The food and service was excellent with the menu offering a varied selection at reasonable prices.....the drinks were not expensive either. Will certainly visit again when in area.

Met a few friends at this pub and didn't feel very welcome. The locals look at you like you are aliens and the drinks are very dear. Not one I shall be rushing back to.

We had a gift voucher at Christmas towards a meal at the Weary Friar. The fillet steak was the best I have had for a very long time, full marks to the chef. Would not hesitate in making a return visit.

We tend to visit whenever we come home to see family, we really love it, staff are great. We brought our American friends here, they loved it for the age, the ambience and the banter with the staff, they were shocked to see faggots on the menu though, which are fantastic by the way
