Felt special as soon as you went in, little touches like crackers to celebrate New Year. In-house staff made us feel welcome and chatted to us several times during the evening.
We reserved a table online as they are only open at weekends at the moment, which was easy to do.
Wine prices were very reasonable for local and imported wine.
A wide selection of unusual dishes made selection difficult as we wanted to try lots of them!
Starter was missing an ingredient but the waiter told us this in advance and agreed on. They did run out of the wine we were drinking but substituted another bottle of very similar wine and did it for the same price which was nice of them
My wife settled on sea bass parcelled in white wine with vegetables, I had the Porchetta which was cooked beautifully. Desert was a deconstructed cannoli again faultless.
If you go to Mellieha find this restaurant it's off the main road behind the Maritim Hotel, you won't be disappointed.

We tried the pizza served at da ciccio which is a small and nice restaurant located in a quiet area in mellieha. The pizza was excellent with a very good dough. The wine was really good. We were very pleased with the service offered by james a very nice maltese guy who really took good care of us with his friendly character. We enjoyed our stay and special thanks goes to pierre for our reservation booking.

I really should have reviewed this restaurant when we were here before Covid. For some reason I didn’t get round to it so we have just re-visited to check it was as good as ever before writing a review. And the great news is that it is!.
Although the setting doesn’t lead you to expect food of the quality that is served here you will not be disappointed by what the chef turns out. He has gone to great pains to produce a balanced and fresh menu and every item my wife and I had was perfect. My pizza was spot on (I wasn’t charged for the extra olives I requested) and my wife loved her veggie pasta. I would advise you to take time to read the menu to learn a little about Mellieha’s history and also the philosophy of this lovely restaurant and its innovative chef. Prices are excellent for the quality of food served and the wine list has some real bargains.
OK this is not a ritzy location nor is the restaurant itself opulent, but I promise you you will not regret coming here for a meal.
It will be a fixture on our annual trip to Malta for as long as it continues to excel.

On Friday evening we dined for the first time at this beautiful restaurant which offered a warm ambience but most of all exquisite food. When being both gluten and dairy intolerant to dine outside might seem impossible and a nightmate but definitely not at this restaurant. Hats off to the very talented chefs, my ribeye was cooked perfectly, very moist and presented in a perfect way with an abundant bowl of gluten free fries which were to die for. My husband's pizza was also very tasty. Highly recommended as this restaurant has it all, reasonable prices, great ambience and food to die for!! Nonetheless to say, you will definitely see us again, thankyou

We visited the restaurant whilst staying at the Pergola Hotel, however we will definitely be revisiting the restaurant for lunches and dinners. The food was delicious! I ordered the Forest & Truffle Mushroom Garganelli, as recommended by our server, and I am glad I did as the flavour was exceptional. My boyfriend ordered the Corona Pizza, an innovative take on traditional pizza which also proved to be very tasty! Our delicious meal was complimented by exceptional service from staff member James, who was very friendly and helpful, especially when it came to ordering our food and giving recommendations (which proved to be very good ones :)). Furthermore, he also took great care of us whilst dining there, and made our meal all the more enjoyable, especially by performing his impressive magic trick. An excellent restaurant with truly dedicated staff. Highly recommend!

We were honestly about to not even enter because the restaurant was nearly empty. After entering the restaurant we had to wait for the waitress to get off her personal phone to greet us and show us to a table. The waitress seemed to be annoyed and showed no interest in having costumers even tho the restaurant opened just 30 minutes ago.
After getting the food the entire staff was so bored with their job that they just stood there on their phones. Only one young waiter seemed to actually care about if the costumers.
The food was bland, and honestly very overpriced everything considered. The meat in the carbonara tasted weird and the burger got served on some paper that ripped very easily and got in the food.
Overall I would not return, and would not recommend the bland food nor the bad service to anyone else.

The food here is wonderful. We asked for a recommendation and we’re advised to try the tagliata which was divine. The porchetta and duck pasta were gorgeous too.
Service was very friendly and warm, although a little slow (but it was a fiesta night).

Lovely staff, friendly, professional and knowledgeable.
Food was beautiful, very enjoyable. We ate there twice and enjoyed it so much.
They were so good with our kids and they have more than the typical nuggets and chips for kids which was hard to find and was very welcomed.
If you are in the Mellieha area, try and get a table here, you won’t be disappointed!

One of the worst „Italian“ restaurants I‘ve ever been to. The prawns tasted old and pasta had almost no flavor. All the dishes we had were poorly seasoned and I wouldn‘t recommend anyone who likes good food to go there. We were totally disappointed.

Visited the restaurant for dinner yesterday and it was a pleasant experience. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the kitchen so you can see the hustle and bustle in the back of the place. The staff were very nice and helped us by answering questions about allergens in the food without fuss. The chefs were helpful in clarifying anything else. The food was great and authentic and the pricing wasn't bad either. If you're in for an Italian meal in the area, this will be one to go for.

Bad service from the second we arrived.
We were waiting for about 4 mins by the door for someone to greet us and show us to our table (which was reserved prior) but no one came to us so we went in to call for them ourselves.
Waiter with a very rude and angry tone and attitude.
Resulting in her having an attitude and rolling her eyes towards us all service for no reason.
On the other hand, food was good it's a pity their waiters are not customer oriented at all.

Nothing to do with Italian cuisine, it felt like it was just made up for tourists. Pizza dough tasted like freezer and pasta was unsalted. It is off season, you could tell. The service was at least very kind.

We tried the restaurant driven by the positive reviews and the fact that it was inside our hotel. The food is quite good, obviously don't expect Italian food but a Maltese twist.
However, some comments from the waiters annoyed us. The youngest pointed out the fact that I (a woman) had taken the beer while my partner had a coke, because according to him it should be the opposite, not considering the fact that a man can also have health problems and therefore choose not to drink alcohol, so it is perhaps best to avoid making these comments even if only as a joke since you never know whether or not you will offend someone's feelings.
The older waiter made us feel like poor people at the end of dinner, since we are used to drinking coffee at the counter it seemed natural to go and ask for it together with the bill, to which he replied "don't worry, even if you drink it at the table I won't make you pay more", decidedly tasteless considering that after paying €50 for two pizzas and a salad, the euro for the coffee certainly wasn't a problem, and it wouldn't have been even if it had been €10, if the fear was that of having two customers without money he might as well have avoided letting us sit in the first place. The last unfortunate observation always comes from the youngest waiter, who, having selected the wrong circuit on the POS, was convinced that our card didn't work and refused to let us set the right circuit, continuing to make unsuccessful payment attempts as if imply that we had no money. Again not very professional behavior. Obviously, once the correct circuit was set, the payment was immediately successful, so there was no reason to create this embarrassment for a customer. I specify that we arrived from the internal entrance, so they knew that we were guests of the Pergola hotel, if I can afford the stay let alone if I can't afford a dinner...
We could have returned every evening but we won't, and we are sure we will also do the manager a favor given the behavior which is not reflected in any of the previous reviews.

We visited with my Mum, who doesn’t eat big portions and she was accommodated with a starter portion of pasta. As for the food it was excellent. This place is a hidden gem with it not being on the main road. If you like Italian food then I can highly recommend it. The rabbit tortilini was fab

We'd booked to sit outside but landed up inside. Very bright lighting, lacking atmosphere. 2 of the three meals were great - 1 sent back due to lack of flavour. Replacement was good. One of the Waitresses/Manageress was particularly grumpy which was very noticeable - had words with one of the other staff in full view of everyone and threw down Menu onto another table. Saw other food (Pizzas) being sent back and chatted to another couple who were also disappointed with their experience. Think they need to up their game.
