I am not going to tell you that I am connoisseur of food however what I will say is:
I know enough about pizza as it’s my favourite food.
I always seem a little embarrassed when I dine out because if there is a choice...of a pizza, pizza it is.
This place is the best pizza I have ever had in my life. Now that I am in my 50s I can say I have eaten enough to verify my words.
I hade the Capricciosa and my friend had the Prosciutto e funghi and my husband had the the tagliatelle al ragu bolognese. He says it was beautiful all in all we have been so pleased with our lunch and very reasonable. I would definitely be happy to pay more for the food we had.More
This place rocks. Stuff is very friendly, the owner always reccomends dish of the day (pizza and pasta). Although it is located in very touristy area, this is not a tourist spot. Would rate 10 out of 5 if I could
I’d seen this place was highly rated on TripAdvisor and recognised the outside as we walked along so we decided to eat here on our first night in GC.
How this place has managed to rise so high in the ratings is beyond me (5...out of 196 as of today). We ordered one starter and two mains from the waiter who had all the ‘patter’ about their authentic Napolitano cuisine … what a joke!
It was 9th Jan and they were still serving their (limited) Christmas menu.
We chose the more expensive of the 3 red wines we were offered - the bottle had clearly been chilled! Whilst vaguely drinkable, it was unremarkable. There was no offer for us to taste the wine either, it was just poured.
After a short time, we were presented with two plates of bruschetta which we assumed was a pre-meal nibble as a gift from the restaurant, like some restaurants serve bread etc. It turned out they were intended for the table down the other end of the restaurant! We hadn’t touched one of the plates and the waiter came over and took it away and immediately served it to the other table even though it’d been on our table for a couple of minutes. The waiter was obviously annoyed with us and this set the tone for the remainder of our visit.
We ate the other plate, the toasted bread was cold and felt stale, and the tomatoes were so crunchy, they’d have made better crudités, although they were devoid of flavour.
My starter and both our mains followed the same line of being bland, under seasoned and unremarkable.
We ordered a second bottle of wine, this time their house red but it too was nothing special, again no offer to taste first.
We witnessed two chaps on the next table had ordered a premium red at €35 a bottle. As the waitress starting pouring, one of them stopped her and signalled his requirement was to taste first. Just as well as they sent it back because it was brown! The waitress fetched another bottle and it too was brown so they ended up with the other red we’d not sampled.
We paid and left, later discovering they’d added the starter we didn’t order to our bill! We definitely wouldn’t go back if it were the last place open in GC.More
Went here based on the TripAdvisor reviews.
First ut takes long before we order, then they want to take the drink order twice and food order three times. We get compensated with a free large beer, and it was a busy day.
They did not...have an of the salads left, just plain salads at lunch time.
The pizza was very doughy and not the exceptional good pizza mentioned in the reviews.More
