We visited this place 3 times during our stay in PDI and loved it. The breakfast is well presented, tasty and reasonably priced with mugs of tea/coffee included. The milkshakes are delish and again priced and presented well. What makes this place special though is the personal service with a special mention to Caroline who couldn’t fail to brighten your day. Good luck with your future changes and we will deffo be back to try your new menu! Hope you don’t mind a little constructive criticism though....I noticed that a few people may have waited longer than usual for bills, extras etc as they were out of sight. Maybe an outside camera/mirror may help as I’m sure you’re missing some potential new customers!

We have visited this fantastic little bakery several times now and have never been disappointed with the food, drinks or service.
It really is a breath of fresh air for the Yumbo centre to be honoured with this type of cafe and is a great addition.
We have noticed the place becoming more busier and the team there have realised this and made adjustments to the way they serve their customers, including the addition of a professional chef, the menu is more extensive, and they really are offering a wide variety of English food and drink, including a selection of G & T's naturally.. I tried the Gordons Lemon last night, highly recommended!
What we see when we visit is the owners always working very hard, coming up with new ideas and ways to expand improve their business, which is great for everyone.
Well done and thank you English Bakery cafe for providing the Yumbo centre with this great Cafe.
Hope to see you again very soon. x

This place is a little piece of England within the Yumbo!
Great friendly team who make you feel very welcome. At first we thought that sitting on stalls as you do if you want a table whereby you can look at everyone walking around the Yumbo, would be uncomfortable but we were wrong. The furniture they have is very comfortable for sitting to drink or eat and you will want to do both here!
They have a great Tea Shop type menu as well as serve English Breakfast and even Sunday Roasts at certain times of the year! They have a number of weekly specials too which are well worth trying.
Definately added this to our regular haunts and would highly recommend this place.

The English bakery cafe, occupies a great viewing spot in the yumbo centre. The staff are excellent, very welcoming the cream scones are lovely , but expensive at € 3-50 , sandwiches are ok but very bland served on thick bread with no salad or crisps to garnish. With a few tweaks this has the makings of an excellent little spot .

Thank you for your comments Paul. We do now have a professional chef so although our sandwiches were already excellent, they are now even better and come with garnish and other yummy options.
As for the scone, we sell a large scone with clotted cream which in the uk tea shops various from £3 to £10 and as such the pricing is excellent value given that we have to have imported clotted cream and hand make the scones here ourselves.
Hope to see you again when you can see the great new offerings we have :)

Having been coming to Gran Canaria for the past 22 years and eaten at various “English Breakfast” restaurants we thought we would try a one new that looked great on Facebook, unfortunately this is one of the worst breakfasts I have had. The pictures on Facebook are not quite the same as what is served up. We had the full English, 1 Bacon 1 Egg 1 Toast 1 Sausage Mushrooms Cherry Tomatoes Hashbrown & Beans.
The bacon was literally just the round part of the bacon and as tough as leather, the egg was overcooked and the beans well more the lack of beans I could have filled a teaspoon with them for the amount that was served. The only good thing was the sausage which was very tasty !
We waited 25 mins from taking the order to receiving the breakfast. The cost was €6.95 with Coffee or Tea or Fresh Orange Juice
There is another “English Breakfast” place that’s been around for 15+ years that doesn’t pretend to be anything special and is €5.45 and you get 2 Bacon 2 Eggs 2 Toast Tomato Hashbrown & Beans Coffee or Tea #rulebritannia

Hi Dazza, thanks so much for the review, it's a great way to plug the competition :). As you didn't complain when you visited we can't verify your claims although we will defend the fact that the pictures on our Facebook come from our and our customers own cameras and are pictures of the food we serve all day every day. We would also point out that the "small round part" of the bacon is a bit of an understatement as the bacon we have imported is proper English best back bacon and is rindless hence the lack of fat, but if thats what you enjoy then we are sure you can get that at the other place you mentioned. Our beans are measured using a label, it's a large one as well so we know that you got the same size portion as everyone else. Finally, the reason you waited was because you turned up at 09:33 (yes I checked the cameras), a full half an hour before we opened at 10am but being the fab team that we are we seated you, let you know there would be a delay whilst the coffee machine kicked into life and opened the kitchen early just to serve you, sorry about that!

We visited the English bakery because I had a fancy for an English cream tea. Whilst the setting was quite pleasant though nothing exceptional, and the waitress very personable, The price of €12.20 for two scones and 2 cups of tea I thought was excessive. The fruit scone was a euro more than the plain scone which is puzzling. However what really infuriated me was being asked to pay €1.20 for a small pot of boiling water for our tea which we take black. I was told that this is usual in Spain because the water isn’t free but having been coming here and to other Spanish destinations for over 20 years I’ve never found this to be the case.
No I wouldn’t recommend English Bakery And I certainly won’t be returning there.

Ok first of all I can say we have bakery cam, that gives customers the ability to log in to see the Yumbo. it also records and I have checked the footage.
On the day, you tried to queue jump by coming to the bar to order where it does say table service and the server was shocked at your rude attitude. The scones are large, home made and we use imported clotted cream as its not sold here. The pricing in the UK is £3-£10 plus in tea rooms, so ours represent fresh made high quality scones and good value for money.
In terms of your hot water...first of all we do tea in very large mugs at 2.50. Water here isn't free sadly and most people simply order a second large mug if they feel the need. The fruit scone is NOT a euro more than a plain scone, a plain scone on our menu is without cream and jam, a fruit or non fruit with cream and jam are the same price.
We wholly agree with your comment about not returning, I'm sure you can find places more suited to your expections and who will tolerate rudeness.

What a fantastic addition to the Yumbo !!!. Whilst I am normally the type of traveller to avoid ‘English food’ offerings whilst abroad this little eatery has converted me. The two owners are ‘totally lovely’ and provide a genuinely warm and friendly welcome whilst the food is just what you would hope for ... a tasty, beautifully cooked, well priced - taste of home, I am reliably informed (by my other half) that the afternoon ‘ scones’ are the best ever whilst I can not recommend the breakfast baps highly enough ... 10/10 to the team for a brilliant new offering in the Yumbo.

Ate here 3/4 times during my stay in Gran Canaria. Served mainly by a guy called Sean who was very friendly and happy for us to change any ingredients in the omelettes etc which was great! Very reasonably priced. Only let down was I think they could do with another server around midday as 2 times it was incredibly busy and almost too much for one waiter to handle which meant a little bit more of a wait on food and drink etc. Seemed to annoy a couple of people on nearby tables but we were happy to wait for great food.

Visited the bakery on a previous holiday in Jan and came back again in March, Steve and Jay gave us a really warm welcome back. My wife and I both love this place. The food is proper home made and always tasty. Burgers are awesome. Breakfast very very tasty, cakes and scones are freshly made. We tried almost everything on the menu from a sausage roll snack to a delicious Sunday roast and can’t fault anything.
Anyone visiting the Yumbo should pay these guys a visit. You’ll certainly be welcomed . Thanks guys.

We visited the English Bakery three times on our holiday to Gran Canaria! First for afternoon tea (lovely fresh, fluffy scones), second for lunch (pie, chips and gravy!) and third for a wonderful cooked breakfast.
Top tip - they also make sandwiches and do cake, which they will pack up for you to take away. Helpful for if you have a flight and need food!

There are so many places in Playa Del Ingles that try and cater to English travellers, but this is the first to do it well, not cutting corners with cheap produce. Everything on the menu is thought out and freshly made and it shows. The boys have spotted a gap in the market and work so hard to make sure what they are offering is all great quality. Even though we went at a time when very few British travellers were able to reach the island, everything we had, from breakfast sandwiches and wraps, to scones and their amazing bannoffee pie was all very tasty and made with love. They also stock a good selection of drinks, including a variety of gins and their own alcohol slushies! The owners are also incredibly welcoming, taking the time to get to know their guests, and seem to be very knowledgeable of the local area, updating us on the local news and changing situations with regards to the pandemic. Visiting the English Bakery Cafe is now a must for anyone visiting PDI.

Can’t recommend this place enough - the food is excellent, the setting is great and the staff can’t do enough for you.....what’s not to like! We only had snacks such as sausage rolls, bacon baps etc. but everything was delicious. The lady in the kitchen is a great cook and never seemed to stop scurrying around with plates of lovely food. Caroline was wonderful and very pleasant to chat to, she has good local knowledge and was bubbly, friendly and welcoming. It was so comfy sitting on the sofa under the shade or equally at the high tables on a stool overlooking the central square of the Jumbo. We’ll definitely be back again next time we visit the resort (soon I hope!).

Great little restaurant. It’s tucked away in the corner of the jumbo centre and what a find. I’m vegetarian and had the really tasty mushroom burger with the amazing home cooked chips. They taste like they were made from a UK home. Proper potatoes and frying and certainly not frozen or French fries. The owners and staff were really friendly and attentive. For the 3 of use we paid €46 - mains, 3 sprites, 2 pints of beer and an apple crumble with custard. Brilliant value without a doubt and a welcome break from pasta and pizza. Would really recommend giving it a go. Served on modern clean plates, socially distanced and very clean.

We would normally avoid anything English type of place but friends recommended the English Bakery so decided to give it a try. We had Sunday lazy morning breakfast and the food and coffee was first class. Only minor gripe was the techno music for a chilled Sunday morning wasn’t appropriate .....maybe an age thing !!!! Service was attentive and lovely owners.
We will be back for lunch or early dinner or just for a drink.
