The semi-feral cats outside the front door, and a few flies inside, should have warned us. This place is long on atmosphere and location -- a beautifully restored, ancient stone house in the old town of Sortelha. But absolutely unforgivable on the lack of cleanliness. Lovely homely restaurant serving tasty Portuguese food and local wines. Very friendly and pleasant staff, nothing was too much trouble for them.

Located in Sortelha, a ancient Portuguese village in the middle of nowhere, you’ll find this cozy restaurant in an old building, divided in 3 floors. Friendly staff, lovely cuisine: try “Arroz de lebre” or any main course with “cabrito” or even “borrego” (lamb). Desserts are very good also. For me egg pudin is top! Before or after do a walk... I was there four years ago (aug. 2008), on holidays with my family & friends. A small, familiar restaurant located in a beautiful old house..
