I know we were in France, but the (Italian) food here is great. There is a good atmosphere, a good team and really good food. What more can you ask for?

An exceptional dining experience. An outstanding menu with something for everyone. The staff was smiling and extremely attentive to our need. The food was served really fast which was really appreciated by our 2 young children. Superb and unique flavor in a dish. "Chez Sylvia"...is a dining experience not to be missed.More

Whether you are looking for a quick lunch, or a more exciting dinner, I would recommend Chez Sylvia. A very good choice of food, complemented by good service made for an excellent evening, marred only by the noise of the traffic from the main road....Ask for a table inside - we will, next time.More

We were actually just running a little late and had planned to have lunch after a visit at a local chateau ( where you can also hav a light lunch ) but wanted something else and ended up at Chez Sylvia by accident. I'm glad...we did. Three of us had pizzas - the authentic, perfectly prepared, thin-crust vesions, and we were all happy - as was the last person in our company with his Salade Nicoise. Sorbets and Italian Ice creams and good coffee ended the meal, which took place at the terrac, under two fantastic, old platan trees, and attended to by a friendly and professional waiter. Italan at its best, and we'd like to go back and try an evening meal to see if it stands the distance...More

Was advised that this restaurant was highly recommended. Although I really cannot complain about the quality of the food presented the quantity left a little to be desired. The service was passable without being exceptional. Have to admit that I would not hurry back.

The family has been serving Italian (Sicilian) food here since 1953. Very classical, very tasteful. Traditional with no surprises for a grand night out. I prefer sitting outside over inside. Friendly service!

we were open for a good pizza after all the fine dining so we ended up at Chez Sylvia. For the best pizza in the area so we were told. And indeed the pizza was great, crispy and tasteful. We took a beer on the...side and our evening was perfect. But wait they also serve dessert, and what a treat. Go for the ice cream and you will be amazed...More

The place is pretty big, from the outside you do not see all the other seating they have around the side and back of the restaurant. Saying that it is worth booking a table in high season. The food is tasty and service very good,...run by a family for many years and you can feel that. I had pasta which was a good size portion but then the portion of lamb chops I had were on the small side, a chihuahua dog would not have got full with the portion they served me, they were under seasoned too alas. I just wanted more of it, I'll try something else next time as I feel it is a good restaurant and I'm sure there are some gems on the menu I did not try.More

We joined some local friends for a lovely night out here. The atmosphere was delightful, authentic, modern, yet still French, romantic, and well laid out for four tops. We weren't mashed together like some restaurants in Paris. The menu was diverse, elegant yet simple. A...great wine selection didn't disappoint. Would I go again? Absolutely.More

It really was a great meal. The prices are average for the region and not out of line I recommend you order the local rose wine rather than a bottle as this will save quite a bit of money. They have the most unusual and...delicious salad of oranges and olives that is SO good. The pizza is wonderful as is the pasta. The staff are efficient, friendly and the atmosphere is delightful. Really good Sicilian food and you will be happy at the end of your meal.More

One of our regular restaurants in Bormes les Mimosas. Absolute favorite of my wife, well appreciated by myself although I find it a bit expensive ... Yesterday we had a small dinner with some pasta and pizza. All well prepared, rich of flavour and pure...quality ingredients. Great! Portions however are relatively small. Pizza's you can order in larger sizes but also at even higher prices. This is exactly the point where I struggle a bit with this place. The higher prices compared to the average restaurants around is for me definitly compensated for in the quality of the food as well as the always friendly service. However, I expect portions to be sufficient for a grown up male. This however is not the case unless you take a multi-course meal. Adding up the bill then will lead to a bill no longer matching with what you get ... Great place to go for nice treatment and a well prepared meal but it carries a price tag.More

I am a kind of person that would drive for an hour, or more, to eat out in a rare top quality Italian restaurant. Chez Sylvia in Le Lavandou (South France) is such a restaurant. They propose a limited choice in the finest pizza's and...pasta's with top quality ingredients worth paying for. Try for instance the pasta a la botargua (Sicilian caviar as it appears) with a mix of tastes that makes you want to come back year after year. Or the vongole, Or the one with meatballs... With their tomato sauce and seasoning have the feeling that Sylvia must have a large proper vegetable garden where everything is handpicked every morning. In my opinion of a huge Italian food amateur Chez Sylvia is worth driving the extra mile! Enjoy it if you get the chance. Olivier Van den BroeckMore
