My companion and I were taking the country route home and decided to stop for a drink in this pub. Being the driver, he had a soft drink whilst I chose a beer, which I was allowed to taste before purchasing. Very friendly, thoughtful and professional staff whose attention to detail was much appreciated. We plan to return for an... More

At first glance I thought I was in for a treat. Lovely old English pub overlooking the village green. Nice big bedroom and fabulous 'designer' bathroom. I was desperate to make myself a nice cup of tea, have a biscuit and flop into a chair. The kettle provided was the smallest I've ever seen and yet took an age to... More

We visited as a party of 17 for my birthday celebrations and everyone was really impressed. The food was brilliant especially as there was so many of us and the waitress was very attentive. The pub has a great traditional feel and the service was excellent. Highly recommend a visit.

Visited here on Saturday 8th April while passing, first time despite passing numerous times over many years. Really good menu, I had Liver and Bacon lovely grub! The wife had Lasagne as recommended again really good. The barmaid is a real credit to the pub, great personality with good service, this is something that some pubs really lack. Will most... More

Called in for lunch on a Friday, surprised (and a little concerned) that it was so quiet. Friendly welcome from the landlady, good pub menu, nice table by the window overlooking the green, must be great in the summer when cricket matches are being played. Food good without being outstanding my steak and ale pie was excellent but the wife's... More

Partner restaurant of the Tickled Trout in Wye. The food is absolutely lovely and good value for money - especially compared to the more pretentious counterparts. The steak we had was perfectly good and complimented with a lovely rosti. For the vegetarian option, the goats cheese comes highly recommended and for those who enjoy meat, the wild boar and apple... Went on the recommendation of my wife and to be fair she enjoyed her meal but I ordered the Chicken supreme which to my amusement came with pasta and to my disapointment no sauce. So basically grilled chicken on pasta which made for a very average meal at best and not what I had hoped for at all. Staff were... More

We had a 'last minute decision' lunch here on Saturday!! It was lovely....home made rolls and home made burger all served with chips and a smile!! We always find this bar and restaurant so very welcoming...it is a delightful 'find', and I would recommend it to anyone. We saw they do a roast there on Sundays, we have not yet... More

This is my 4th stay on block release with ABDO college. The hospitality I have received was excellent, food outstanding, rooms are lovely. Will definitely visit again. Ginny the pub manageress went above and beyond to make us welcome and is a credit to the pub.

Popped in after shopping at Ashford Designer Outlet and we had a 241 voucher and was very impressed. Great pub, good atmosphere, charming staff and food very good. We both had fillet beef which was exceptional and some chocolate churros. Would highly recommend.
