Bahia is a beautiful restaurant, the service is very good , the food is good but not out of this world . Upon entering the restaurant, we were ushered to our table , i must say the decor is lovely . As we sat at...our table the manager immediately offered us a glass of champagne, i did not accept as i am not keen on champagne, but my girlfriend accepted the ( what we thought was a welcome drink ) , once i received the bill , i noted that we charged €16 for the glass of champagne, which we both had the impression was a welcome drink . I am not complaining about paying €16 , as the total bill was close to €250 , but we should have been advised that the champagne was NOT a welcome drink and not on the house . I did voice my opinion to the manager , who's reply was we will discuss your complaint during our next management meeting . I belive its very naughty to offer a welcome drink and then charge the customer .More

The Bahia appears to be professionally run by some very clever, highly skilled, welcoming, and ambitious staff who take their work very seriously. Not only is the food exceptionally pleasing (we went back a second night while vacationing in Malta), the setting is spacious and...relaxing (I understand that Bahia moved to its new location in the Corinthia Palace Hotel early in 2022). The cuisine we sampled was delightfully varied, and placed appropriate emphasis on locally-sourced ingredients. Every offering was immensely enjoyable, but I can still taste the sheep's milk gelato adorned with a seemingly perfect blend of honey and olive oil. Even the bartender deserves praise for his skillful ability to create one thirst-quenching drink after another. The owner, Colin, with whom we were invited to meet, should be commended for his dedication to providing what may very well be the best fine dining option in Malta.More

We had à la carte dinner in Bahia as a family in October 2023. My wife and my son had two courses, myself three. First the positives: setting of the tables is rather nice and welcoming. I like the big round tables. Service was rather...professional. For the food, to be clear, the review needs to be read in the context of a Michelin star and the pricing applied. And for that, almost all of the dishes where below par. We had as a starter the Rabbit and the Gnocchis. Both were very salty. The rabbit is a delicate meat, and the terrine very neutral - it was paired with very salty garlic paste and a (salty?) buckwheat tea - which killed the dish. The 2 small slices of plum did not have any taste and did not add anything (although the dish would have cried out for sweetness and acidity to balance). Mains: the chicken: again, balances not right, two pieces of chicken and a chicken pressé with some slices of onion… seriously? My wife had the beef: both the ribeye and the oxtail were so salty, it was hard to eat (and I’m myself rather on the salty side). The pork was the best dish of them all - again salty but enjoyable overall. The kimchi provided an interesting twist (and balance). The only dish that came close to a Michelin star. Dessert was a chocolate dish and the baba ( which I had). This one particularly annoyed me - the baba is such traditional dessert - you can interpret it differently but should not ruin it. Two small pieces of baba - no taste whatsoever and surely not of rhum at all (it tasted like drenched in water) - with goat cheese ice cream - which again is so overpowering that everything else disappears. I tasted all the dishes, and with a single exception, the balance and/or seasoning was not right in any of them. Two other issues where the lack of amuse bouche (never seen for a restaurant of this standing) and an error on the bill which was then corrected. Wines by the glass were below average in my view. I’m surprised by the reviews here, as I did not find the food at Michelin level at all. It feels like the chef hasn’t been in the kitchen. Very underwhelming.More

As we were booked in to the adjacent hotel, we decided to dine at this restaurant and we chose the taster menu with matching wines. Each course we had was tasty and well received. The wines were good and a variety provided to match each...course. Overall a good evening.More

The pros : very pleasant terrace - maybe a bit too warm during the summer or too cold during the winter, overlooking the gardens of the Corinthia hotel. Very large space with a good number of tables inside and outside. Pleasant and attentive staff. Innovative...plant based menu based on locally sourced products. For the setting, service and food offering, the restaurant offers a very competitive price. The cons : we went for the 8 courses options , maybe it was too much, would recommend the 5 courses option. Some of the dishes were very interesting (Dwejra, Msida and Xewkija) while others were less.More

Came for the launch of their newest menu of creations as a treat for my girlfriend and myself, and it was definitely our best Maltese Dining experience. We stayed in the private balcony which is perfect for celebrating any special occasion with a loved one,...being private and bringing a unique dimension to overseeing the gardens below. We started off with a couple of cocktails, which were both incredible and unique in their own ways, with the orange chilli daiquiri being bold whilst still remaining incredibly easy to drink. We had their new degustation menu with beverage pairing, which consisted of 7 different dishes & 5 beverages to pair. To start off, we were given an assortment of different dishes inspired by Qormi a town with a heritage in baking, paired with a vermouth. Right off the bat, each dish was incredibly composed with a variety of different contrasting tastes and textures. The pairing here was perfect, balancing out the saltiness and bringing out a certain sweetness from the vermouth. The dish is composed of two parts. The tart looked as incredible as it tasted, with a great balance of acidity and brightness whilst not overshadowing the fish. The side dish was a marinated quinoa salad covered in leek foam, which gave me a bit of a new appreciation of quinoa which I usually dislike. To pair with this we were presented with a nice crisp white wine, that paired wonderfully. We were then served a dish which I think was my personal favourite, and also the first time my girlfriend tried snails. It was an absolutely incredible explosion of deep earthy and umami flavours. The pairing was a Maltese Oaked Chardonnay that held incredibly well to the bold flavours of the dish and complemented it nicely. The Palate cleanser was the best I personally tried, and arguably my girlfriend's most ranted-about dish. The blend of raspberry and tomato, together with basil oil was absolutely perfect. Our next dish was the fresh fish of the day, which was local tuna, which, whilst I am not sure if it was previously aged or a bit cured, even eating on its own, brought a bold steak-like flavour. With the cauliflower and curry sauce, this made for an outstanding dish, with each element completing each other nicely. I was originally a bit shocked to hear curry sauce, due to my personal experience of maybe a bit almost offensive use of curry spice in Maltese cooking, but it was divine and paired incredibly well without overpowering the fish. The next dish was an incredibly juicy lamb roulade with a nice sharp pepper sauce that was paired with a bold, full-bodied red wine. This was an incredible finale for the savoury side with deep, strong flavours. Starting off on a sweeter side, we were served an incredible creation of single-origin dark chocolate, which balanced a nice mixture of textures from soft, crunchy and creaminess. I personally like that it was not incredibly sweet as it showed off the different components better. To pair we had a nice rich desert wine. To finish off we were given a selection of petit fours, which were all incredible but we were a bit too full at this point to appreciate them fully. The service was great and super attentive, explaining each dish and the pairing chosen to go with it incredibly well. What I really liked was them explaining the 'why' a certain pairing was chosen for the dish being presented and a bit more of the story that goes alongside it. They all seemed very excited, showing off their new dishes, which were very warm and welcoming. Overall the experience was incredible, and a bit of fresh air for the culinary scene in Malta, the basis of the Bahia focusing on inspiration from within the Maltese culture, is refreshing to see as we seem to be losing a bit of our heritage and cuisine. It's great to see and taste the result of what is undoubtedly an incredibly passionate team. I will definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone to experience an incredible orchestra of different creations and flavours.More

The dinner was great, experience was superb. The setting and environment of the restaurant feels more than 1 star. The menu is very interesting, we had the future tasting menu, it’s for sure better than some of the other 1 star restaurants. Thank you, and...hope we get to visit Malta and your restaurant again in the future! 🥰More

From start to finish, the service was simply nothing short of amazing! The staff was so lovely, courteous, and professional and the way they treated us felt very special and personal. The food was absolutely delicious and although we left the restaurant feeling full, we...just wished we had some more space left for a bit more food:) Heartfelt compliments to the kitchen staff!! Special thanks also goes to Hazel Saludares (Guest Relations) who really needs to be commended for her high level of customer service. Thank you once again for such a memorable experience and hope to see you again in the near future. Best wishes.More

What a lavish experience it has been to savour a plant-based menu at a Michelin star restaurant in Malta. Bahia never disappoints its patrons, no less if they're vegans. I have enjoyed several meals over the years at its previous location, however the recent move...to 5-star Corinthia Palace Hotel has placed Bahia on the most prestigious culinary map of Malta. One of the few, if not the only place on the island which offers a plant-based menu. You can opt for the vegan first and second courses from the classic à la carte menu or dive into the PRESENT - a 5 or 8-Course Degustation Menu (with optional wine pairing). I opted for the 5-Course Degustation Menu which surpassed all my expectations from service to food. If you're after a special plant-based meal, go ahead and book! Nothing on its level in Malta.More

Either a cab, there are many operators like Bolt, eCabs, Uber, etc. The bus service is also an option, but if you are going for dinner, it will likely stop before you need to return. Cabs are quite affordable on the island.
