We went there twice during our holidays because of the good pinsa and wine. The staff is very friendly and helpful even when we had no reservation. Definitely worth going there to enjoy food and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere.
It is always sad when an establishment which was good suddenly starts going downhill but regretfully it often happens here in Malta.
Fra Giuseppe has now joined this list. I don't know what happened but there has been some change in ownership or administration of...the place and it shows.
Before it used to excel for good prices and food and a sterling service mostly due to the supervision of the previous owner who was a true gentleman.
Now not anymore. Prices went up and the quality of the menu and food on offer went down. The wine list is not as good as it was before and wine has become more expensive. For example they were selling a specific bottle for 22€ which one can find for sale for 4€ in a supermarket. Now I know that an establishment has got to make a profit on wine but surely 10-12€ is more than enough for a bottle that sells for 4€. Charging 22€ is daylight robbery. Also the service is not as good as before with staff which do not know what they are doing, long waits and sadly when I visited only one waiter was wearing a mask while the others were not. Hey to wear a mask is the law and not optional in a wine bar during the Covid-19 pandemic!
Feeling disappointed with this experience I am not sure I will give it another shot anytime soon.More

Very sorry you had a bad experience but we don't agree on the wine price as all the wines in our wine list are sold only in restaurants and cannot be found off the shelf in a supermarket as you say .... We believe that...More
This lovely wine bar which is located next to Balzan parish church offers, not only offers a mouthwatering menu which includes a vast choice of wine and delicious desserts , but also service with a smile and pleasant atmosphere with life music.
Keep it up...:)More
We booked for the NYE party of 2019 at Fra Giuseppe back in November for a group of 13 people. At that time, our booking was CONFIRMED and we were instructed by staff members to pay later in December. We went to pay them 2...weeks before NYE only to find out that they never even listed us in their booking.
Sincerely, thank you Fra Giuseppe staff and management for your incompetence. You left us with a tremendous hassle to find a new venue for NYE (a big group of 13 ppl mind you) on such short notice; barely any availability and missing out on any early bird discounts. Not to mention that we got separated from other friends who were encouraged by us to book for your party.
Thank you very f***ing much 😊More
