We booked The Three Horseshoes to hold a small party as my partner and I recently got engaged and wanted to get the family together for some food, drinks and celebrations.
Alison and her team were incredibly accommodating to us and all of our guests. Email responses were prompt and everything was clearly explained during communications. The team were also able to accommodate to a severe peanut allergy within the group and also made a complete separate plate for a guest with coeliac disease. On arrival, we were warmly greeted and the area we had reserved was decorated beautifully and had some cold food already on the tables and prosecco in ice baths ready to be served. We had a mixture of hot and cold food, with recommendations for the cocktail sausages and sausage rolls. We paid for 35 people to eat but there was more than enough food to go around twice!
Since returning back home, my partner and I have had nothing but wonderful text messages from our family and friends, telling us how fantastic the food was and how friendly the staff were. Some are also considering booking future events at the pub.
We could not be more thankful for the service we received. The food, drinks and team were lovely and we look forward to returning again soon.

We visited The Three Horseshoes for my wife's birthday, at her request. On arrival the staff had gone to the trouble of putting a birthday banner and balloons up, and also put a candle in her brownie dessert and sang Happy Birthday!
Pleased to say that the food was as exceptional as the service. Plenty of proper pub fare as well as some nice additions to what you may expect. Hats off to the Alison the landlady and all her staff, keep up the good work, you're all doing a fantastic job.

I booked a table for 16 persons, yes i was required to pay a deposit of £10/head. I became a little worried about this when the scuttle bug started to say that this would not be taken off of the final bill. MOST UNTRUE . the table was booked for my brothers 90th birthday celebration and the staff could not have made us more welcome and when thay found out that it was a birthday celebration manage to find "birthday banners" etc to help make it a special day. Thank you very much for that. The food was excellent and I did not hear any complaints, the staff attention to us was first class and friendly. when I came to sort out the bill my deposit was offered back as a refund or a reduction of the same amount from the bill. I have used this pub on several occasions usually during the week and have never had a problem.

We came here for our anniversary dinner and we were so disappointed. We wanted to sit in the garden but there several dog poos in the garden, and the pub had only just opened so they must have been there for ages. They also had a really aggressive dog that must been owned by the people running the pub as it appeared to come running out of the staff area. We chose from the pizza menus as we got free drinks with these on a Tuesday, my pizza was overwhelmed with balsamic vinegar and then I found a hair in it. At this point we decided to pay and leave, the bar lady said she would take the pizza off our bill but then they charged us for the drink, when I challenged this she said her manager told her to charge us for the free drink as we didn’t have pizza. After we got home we looked on trip advisor and other people have complained about dog poo. The pub overall was really tired and scruffy looking. I would definitely avoid this pub.

Good day Tanya Collis
I do wish you had made mention of it being your anniversary when you booked as we do like to make a fuss of guests celebrating a special occasion. And I do wish you'd chosen to communicate your unhappiness on the day as there's not much I can do about it now. I do find it rather malevolent that you left a tip, indicating all was well with your visit, only to then address a litany of apparent issues online. I address them each here:
Apologies about the dog poo that you found. I personally do an inspection and clean every morning and every evening. Unfortunately, inconsiderate dog owners don't always clean up after their pets during the day and the occasional mess will get missed. If you'd pointed it out at the time, we would've cleaned it up immediately. We open both for lunch and again in the evening, so I find the statement that "the mess was there for ages" to be a bit of an exaggeration. So too is the statement that "other people have complained." There was one comment about that, and it was from a customer who had also complained royally about us even letting dogs on to the premises at all. When he didn't get a satisfactory response, he then went online to complain about the dog mess. This was after we'd apologised, thanked them for pointing it out and then cleaned up.
Your statement about an "aggressive dog that must belong to the people running the pub" is also quite the assumption. And incorrect at that. We have a small breed dog who is scared of other dogs and, as a result, does not get let out when customers’ dogs are on the premises. You must have seen another customer's dog and again, it's hard to believe s/he was aggressive as someone would’ve complained at the time.
With regards to your pizza - to clarify, as per the menu and marketing elements, a complementary drink is offered with pizzas, off the PIZZA MENU, on Tuesdays. By your statement that yours was "overwhelmed with balsamic" I can only take this to mean you ordered a cheesy garlic pizza which does come with balsamic glaze, as per the menu description. These are on the starter menu and do not qualify for a complementary drink. This is what the waitron meant when saying you didn't have a pizza in order to qualify. We again apologise for the hair in your food which you reported at the time. While it didn't seem to match any of the staff's, the kitchen team has been reminded to ensure their protective head-wear is being correctly worn.
Now, for the rest of your “review”. I take offense to your comment about the pub looking tired and scruffy. We receive endless complements about our garden and the interior has been recently extensively renovated. We have a daily cleaner to take care of the interior and a weekly gardener to keep the exterior tidy. I do believe, based on the litany of complaints listed here, that you're thoroughly annoyed, and this is translating into unfair comments. Those that are with merit will be taken into account as they always are.
Regards
Alison

Nestled in the countryside, The Three Horseshoes is a charming old pub offering delectable cuisine and cozy accommodation.
The warm ambiance set the stage for a delightful evening with friends. The extensive menu boasts delicious options, and overall our meal was really good.
Our overnight stay was comfortable, with traditionally appointed rooms ensuring a restful night's sleep despite the nearby road. The next morning, we indulged in a scrumptious full English breakfast, complete with all the trimmings. Even the biscuit coloured resident pub dog seemed to approve!
Don't miss the opportunity to explore the delightful pub gardens during your visit.

Friend had kindly bought us a voucher as we had not been before. Menu is extensive to suit all pallets and reasonably priced. Friendly staff from the moment of booking and attending the venue. We had a lovely table near the fire but were shortly joined by a large group to sit around the fire and could no longer hear each other over the table. I had the beef Thai dish which was delicious and my husband opted for a chicken burger which came with chips and onion rings on a small plate.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We're delighted you enjoyed your time with us. Apologies if your evening was disrupted! Unfortunately the fireplace is a very popular attraction and that space can get quite full. Please let us know next time if there's ANYTHING wrong with your experience at all and we'll do our best to fix it. I'd have happily moved you to a quieter spot if necessary. We do hope you join us again soon.

We visited for the first time as we were in the area and looking for a main meal. There wasn't many reviews on this pub so we took a punt. First thoughts were great choice of food on the menu, so many delicious meals to choose from and great selection for the kids. The food was fantastic! We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Also they had a bookshelf with games and colouring for the kids which is a great touch. At first we commented how nice it was to have fresh water put on the table without asking, however they added £3 onto the bill at the end for the water which is wrong, considering we didn't realise or get told this. That is the reason for the 4* and not 5. And also the fact dogs are allowed and a breed I am severely allergic to was sat on the table next to us, so we did have to hurry our food down to leave. Also we did say thank you and bye to the (what I assume is the landlady) and we were ignored.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We're delighted that, overall, you enjoyed your time with us and that we could make your children welcome. To clarify - the filtered, bottled, mineral water is charged for. Complementary jugs of tap water are available on request. This fact is included on every page of the menu. We are well-known as dog-friendly pub and don't restrict which parts of the pub they're allowed in. Next time, please just let one of us know and we'll make sure you're at a table that is away from any dog visitors.

What a find!
Lost count of the amount of times I've driven by this place over the years but this was my first visit and I could not have been more impressed. Charming bar and restaurant area, gorgeous looking fireplace (I think I may have spied a couple of club chairs in front of it - heaven!) and just generally a nice 'vibe.'
The vibe was aided and abetted by a lovely, efficient and accommodating serving team and a delicious (roast) meal; compliments to the chef!
We noted that there was overnight accommodation so we'll definitely return as this pub also looks as though it would be a great base for walking in the Hampshire countryside.

Made a special trip out and arrived at 820pm yesterday evening for a meal. The kitchen is advertised open until 9pm (see pic) - we even checked this before we set off to save a wasted trip.
The bar staff consulted with kitchen and told me sorry but we close kitchen early these days. Wasn't their fault and they seemed friendly and genuinely embarrassed.
What is wrong with businesses that they will inconvenience customers and turn them away without a 2nd thought.
When we complained on another site the owner replied that the website didn't mean Dinner was served until 9pm but rather 830pm :-) Goodness knows how people are meant to work this out !
NB They also rather avoided the fact we were in at 820pm some 10 minutes before the new 830pm deadline. Last order are therefore clearly not at 830pm!
No excuses were offered, no effort was made and we will not be back. How to lose customers in one easy lesson.

As you say, I did respond to your review on Google already so will repeat it here too, except I’ll do so more clearly to ensure I’m understood completely. Just as I did there, we apologise for any miscommunication or misunderstanding with regards to our operating hours. You are correct. Our kitchen is advertised as open till 9pm. (In fact, it is often open later to accommodate diners who would like to enjoy desserts etc after their meals.) However, our last orders are at 8:30 to allow time for prepping, cooking and serving of the ordered dishes before the kitchen is shut down. We don't, in fact, "close early these days". Last orders have always been at 8:30 unless alternative arrangements have been requested and made for a later booking and service. As anyone in this industry can tell you, this has nothing to do with "closing early to go home" but rather with allowing sufficient time to shut down correctly to maintain quality and hygiene standards. And this is something that is planned and budgeted for with regards to staffing requirements. Although this hasn’t appeared to be confusing or an issue for anyone up till now, I have requested the website be updated to reflect this to avoid anyone else being confused by the stated times in the future. I've also rechecked the security cameras for that day to be 100% sure. According to our records, you in fact arrived at 8:28. After you parked, came inside and came up to the bar, it was just on 8:30pm. Therefore, you were told that the kitchen was closed for any new orders. In my other response I did NOT say that the website meant anything else and I did NOT say that dinner is only served until 8:30. I apologised for the inconvenience but made no excuses as there were none to make. While we can respect your annoyance at the perceived lack of accommodation, I do hope that you can respect we need to operate within the boundaries required by the business. I wish you well.

We decided to visit for lunch on Tuesday and so glad we did. Lovely warm welcome. Amazing service and what a choice on the menu!
Drinks delivered immediately. Such a varied menu you are spoilt for choice. All our choices were delicious. There was only one girl working but we were all looked after and she was rushed off her feet but we didn't feel any lack in service, in fact she did an amazing job.
Reasonably priced. Due to road closure at the moment it's a bit more difficult to get there but I would recommend the detour If you like fish I would recommend the Bouillabaisse

We’ve been in. A couple of time since reopening - once for Sunday Lunch, once for dinner when they had a local musician performing. Roast Lunch undoubtedly the best we’ve had in a long time locally - also glad to contribute to the ‘how many spuds’ convo!! Local dinner was brilliant, still able to serve Gluten Free despite reduced menu due to Storm Eunice services impact: really lovely ambience, super friendly team, (full) menu when back on is great with some themed nights as well (bangers n mash needs doing!!) - welcome to the locale folks and we’ll be seeing more of you!!!

Thank you for taking the time to share your review! (It made me smile all over my face!) I'll be sure to share it with the team. And I've noted your Bangers 'n Mash request. It's made me realise I need to up my marketing game. We've had a Banger 'n Mash special for a while now. Any of our sausage variants with mash or chips and a glass of house red or white or a pint of London Pride, Guinness or Amstel for £15. (The usual price for Bangers 'n Mash is £12). You can choose from Beef & Guinness, Pork with Garlic & Red Wine, Chicken & Apricot, Venison & Red Wine, Pork & Leek or Boar & Apple. Thanks for your support! We have visited this pub many times but not recently. We remember the food as exceptional. PArticularily the fresh battered fish and the meat pies. This time there was 4 of us. The fish was out of a packet and soggy. The meat pie was not a pie.it was a dish with some pie filling with a pastry top. The gammon was over cooked . Finally the burger was so compressed it was inedible and most was left. We should have complained at the time but we were rather shocked that all 4 plates were not good.
A last point I thought £9 for a glass of house red was too expensive

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I'm very disappointed that you didn't raise any of these problems with us on the day as we would most definitely have gone out of our way to rectify them. I would have been most interested in the "dish with some pie filling with a pastry top" as we don't have anything like this on our menu. We have a variety of pies, all with shortcrust bases and puff pastry tops. But none currently served in “a dish”. We also don't have a "house red" on the menu. There is a wide selection of wines, some available by the glass and the prices range from 5.50 to 9.50 depending on which wine and size the customer selects. But, as I said earlier, if you'd raised this at the time I could've addressed it there and then. Again, we apologise for not meeting your expectations and we thank you for taking the time to share your opinion.

What a treat Sunday lunch was at the 3 Horseshoes. The roasts were tasty, yummy roast potatoes and veg and the highlight for me was huge amounts of delicious gravy with sn option for refills. This is a local pub for us and we decided to pop up for dinner. Food was very good but they are running a very limited menu at the moment. Staff excellent and a wonderful atmosphere in the pub , created by local musicians.
The new owners have refurbished the pub very nicely indeed. Alison, one of the owners, was very helpful and offered us South African wine tasters, when I perhaps rudely, but inadvertently said, I was not a fan of S A wine. They were both very pleasant. We will return again hoping for a slightly larger choice of their very good food. On the whole a very pleasant and positive experience!

A truly excellent village pub!
And a wonderful warm welcome from Ali, her son and husband.
The food is pub food rather than restaurant food BUT it's absolutely at the top end of pub food. I'd been driving by for years but now it's becoming my local.
Don't quite follow some adverse comments about the garden: it's a lovely place to sit and, given this is walking territory, It's hardly surprising that, from time to time, there's an "accident." I've never seen one though. Beautifully kept and peaceful in my experience.
Terrific beers and a good wine list.
Strongly recommended to summarise!
