We ate at The Oar twice, once for dinner and once for lunch. I had the fried fish with salad instead of chips. The broccoli slaw was amazing. For lunch the next day I had the lobster salad. It had more fresh lobster that I imagined and very reasonable. I definitely go more lobster on the salad than I would... More

We went back for lunch yesterday after dinner there on Monday night. Still the best place to sit at the bar and have a sandwich and watch the "yacht harbor." Fried Cod sandwich is better than it sounds. Really fresh fish, hot, and fairly priced. The Asian Chicken Salad is large and well done with lots of substantial chicken. You... More

I have been going here for years for drinks and sunsets, then finally on the most recent trip decided to try the food. After dining one night then attempting to a second evening with a different group, this is a combined review for both experiences. The food - in general it's fine and what you'd expect on a menu right... More

The food is always good. The view is spectacular. The salmon is excellent. They usually get you in and out.

We recall The Oar being much better last year, food was ok, but nothing to rave about. Nice spot, can't beat the view/scenery. Great spot for a drink!

We rented bikes and rode over to The Oar for an early dinner this week. The Oar is fun -- great decor, friendly servers, and one of the very best views on BI. The food is so-so -- we had calamari, the Oriental salad, and the mahi-mahi tacos --- all were fine, but forgettable. What you won't forget is the... More

A staple when visiting Block. Close to where we keep the boat, A huge outdoor space and plenty of room to move around. Everyone should own an Oar hoodie too!

You can't say you've been to Block Island unless you've been to The Oar. It's menu has changed over the years to meet some modern tastes (the sushi is wonderfully fresh) but the decor of donated painted oars that line the walls and it's panoramic view of the Salt Pond is tradition at its best. The bar has a selection... More

The Oar has a great location overlooking New Harbor and the Block Island Boat Basin. We went for the view and the sushi, and enjoyed both, although it was pricey for the small portions we received. There wasn't any music playing, or if there was, we couldn't hear it over the high level of noise from the guests at the... More

This is a great spot for a leisurely lunch or dinner. My wife and I visited in late afternoon and the place was packed. Situated right in the new harbor area with pleasant views and atmosphere. Food and drinks were right on. Had the salmon sandwich on a roll and it was very tasty and hit the spot with a... More
