Went here for a business meeting. Pub is very "olde worlde" with low beams which is not really my style. We arrived at 10.30 and they were serving coffee. Had to send one cup back as didn't taste right. We then ordered lunch. Good choice of dishes and I enjoyed the miso broth with chicken and prawns although expensive at... More

Hi David, I think you have reviewed the wrong pub. We don't offer the food you had on our menu, nor has it been on our specials menu, we also wouldn't be open before 11 serving at all. Would you possibly, without prejudice be able to remove your review? As it lowers our trip advisor score, we do however hope... More

One time I would have give this 5 stars. The food was good but inexpensive, they did the best ham, egg and chips I have had in a long time, fantasic value for money and it was a regular for us, bar staff were also very helpful. Then they changed the menu and twice on a Friday children were running... More

Looking at the recent reviews I have to agree. I don't like my meal swimming in gravy. I would prefer some but if I have to choose between the 2 it is no. I was told that the "Roast beef" was cooked in gravy. That set the mind thinking that's unusual for a roast. Sure enough the slices of meat... More

If , like me, you research just about everywhere on Trip Advisor, then you will see some glowing comments on this pub. Maybe it's just me Living in Wokingham, which doesn't have the best selection of town centre pubs, we decided to drive out of town to the Queens Oak. Very quiet, a few locals at the bar who didn't... Lunch with my parents. Food was good. Chips were absolutely delicious. Service fine. Place could do with a refurbishment including toilets.

All the hot food we were served had come straight from the freezer. The batter on both the squid and the cod was far too thick. Beware, the fish also had plenty of bones! A pity as the pub and garden could be lovely, but it is neglected.

Dear Barbara, thank you for taking time to review us, apologies we were not your cup of tea. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your food, however I assure you that any battered items such as fish is battered onsite, our fish is delivered daily and is most definitely not cooked from the freezer at all; my 2 chefs work hard... The Queen's Oak beats other pubs in the area hands down by location alone. It really is spectacularly pretty. There is a good sized, fenced garden. I understand that it has new ownership, and there have been some decor changes since my last visit to the area, which I have to say I don't really care for. Rather dated and... More

Hello thank you for your review, I remember you coming in!! You were the lovely people sat on table 12 and I did indeed bring you some more salad dressing to replace the balsamic :) You'll be pleased to know I was only chef for that particular day, I am in fact the landlord. I am delighted you had a... More

Hit upon this place a bit by accident having seen the signs on the main road - it has a car park and a large beer garden and does a nice line in beers from Brakspeare brewery. Ate fairly simply but the calamari for starters was lovely, very well cooked and not all stringy like you can get. Had a... More

Not the best Sunday lunch but a good one, food and price wise. We've enjoyed it and will go again. Probably taking our dog next time as it's a dog friendly. The service was very good. The inside is very traditional (unlike modern gastrointestinal pubs) and they've got a large beer garden with a kid play area.

The only pub in the country named The Queen's Oak.400 years old & built on a Roman Ruin.A proper English pub serving wholesome homemade British Quisine and a superb range of beverages including cask conditioned real ales. There are plenty of picturesque walks nearby and just opposite is St Micheals Church. We welcome dogs, horses and well behaved children and have a large, safe garden and play area.An excellent venue for a country style wedding, christening or any celebration. We also have a BBQ & Hog Roast. You may get to see Morris Dancers who frequent the pub in the summer months or come and play an old game of Aunt Sally.
