We have visited several times over the years and were looking forward to our evening. Everything seemed good. Our order was taken, nothing too complicated, just salmon, cod and a burger. The food was excellent and nicely presented but why oh why did it take...over an hour from ordering for our food to be served? Really really disappointed.More

Taking sandwich, chips and salad to a whole new level! Crunchy brown bread was delicious, full of seeds and a nutty flavour. The cream cheese & smoked salmon was generous and tasty, the chips were homemade and really good and the salad dressed with a...lovely balsamic glaze. Husbands pork sandwich, he also really enjoyed with an accompanying homemade apple sauce. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed his treats of meat offcuts with a bowl of fresh water. So thoughtful and much appreciated. Thank you, The Plough Inn - a super ‘passing through’ lunch, enjoyed in your lovely garden with views. Highly recommend.More

Booked at short notice on Sunday afternoon with my partner and dog. The two waitresses were so friendly and helpful, brought treats and water for the dog. The roast was lovely. Very large portions. :) Can't complain at all. Also had the smoked mackerel pate...which was amazing.More

Wow beautiful 3 course Sunday dinner, Garlic mushrooms are the best I’ve ever tasted, the roast it’s self was amazing but the best bit was the brownie for pudding!! Great place that often gets passed by, the staff are always smiling and welcoming, the chief...is talented and the whole place has a lovely feel about it. Thank youMore

We rang and reserved a table at the plough for 5.30pm, when we arrived we were greeted by 2 young ladies who we’re extremely welcoming and friendly whilst being very professional with their job. We had booked a table for 4 plus our blue staffie....They showed us to our table and straight away asked if our dog would like some water and a bowl of meat. They made a big fuss of our dog and not only looked after us well but looked after our dog to. The food was amazing probably the best food we have had on a very long time. The portion size was spot on and we couldn’t fault anything at all with our visit. The staff were all very polite and helpful and we left there saying we would definitely go back.More

Popped into the Plough on the off chance. Driven by but never been in for food. What a find - warm welcome from the friendly staff. Amazing food, Blade of beef was gorgeous and the Chocolate Brownie was possibly the best I’ve had. There was...no rush to finish, great way to spend a relaxing evening.More

We stumbled across this pub on our way to Matlock and decided to stop for lunch. So glad we did. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu, friendly and accommodating. They even got my son a cushion to sit on to make him a bit...closer to table height. Although there is no kids menu they were happy to do small portions of any of the menu items. My son had a small portion of the pasta with garlic bread (although it was still big enough for us to try some and it was delicious). Me & my mum shared 2 starters & a portion of chips between us and this was more than enough for lunch as the portions were very generous. The chips were the highlight for me. Hand cut, triple fried and tasted incredible. We sat in one of the beautiful wooden shelters at the top of the hill. Incredible views and perfectly sheltered from the wind & sun. My son also enjoyed running round in the huge garden after lunch whilst I relaxed with a coffee in the sun. Bliss!More

Hi Ellen Ideally, yes, a booking is preferable as we provide a complimentary supper and knowing numbers and if there are any dietary requirements is most helpful. regards Rich
