If you're staying in Geilo, like really good food and aren't too concerned about the cost, this is your restaurant. We had the local sampler appetizer which included reindeer, grouse and local trout - highly recommended. The grilled trout was as good as any and the reindeer main course was superb. Desserts, as usual, sounded better than they were but... More

This restaurant situated in the centre of Geilo is decorated like an old wooden travel lodge. Lots of wood and an open kitchen. Rather informal (you do not need to dress up, fancy casual is ok). Excellent food with a nice presentation and an impressive wine list if you want to spend large quantities of NOK's :)

Went to Hallingstuene for a wedding anniversary. This is is a restaurant which celebrates Norwegian mountain ingredients, and does it exceptionally well. We had a grilled and smoked trout as starter, and it absolutely melted in the mouth. The main course, which was venison and mountain lamb for my wife were also absolutely delicious. In cosy environment and good service... More

This restaurant is really matching expectations as # 1 in Geilo. Start with a flavour of all what hou Can find in the mountains (fish, meat) and continue with the specialty: the grouse... gorgeous. Do not miss This place that is a must... Enjoy.

Recommended Restaurent by a friend. Food was fantastic. Trout, reindeer and cloudberries made for a great meal. If our Norwegian was better (we have none) it might have been less confusing for the young focussed waiter. Wine here is a bit expensive... Bu wine its is very extensive.

We got a warm welcome in this restaurant. The food is excellent. A good choice of exquise plates. My wife and daughter choose a trout. I prefered the Raindeer. My son ate the deer. The raindeer has been prepared perfectly as well all the other plates. We ordered a nice wine from the extensive wine card. Take your time to... More

This charming wooden chalet restaurant is situated near to the station with a wonderful view over Geilo and the slopes. The service was friendly and I was impressed how the waiter managed the wine which I ordered: very professionally decanted and presented. There is a very extensive wine list! The food was excellent and beyond expectation. We started with a... More

They offer a lot of "local" food like whale carpaccio, Reindeer, shark etc. Staff is very friendly and helpfull and speak english very well. The ambiance is nice as well, something I also missed in previous Norwegian restaurants. 4/5 because of the prices. I... More

One of the most classic place to eat in Geilo. The quality of the food is second to none. The wine list is just incredible. The staff were friendly and easy to communicate in English. Worth the trip !
