A fantastic restaurant in a beautiful setting even on a cold rainy day! Took my mother-in-law for her birthday and she was treated so well by the lovely waitress. We had a lovely table in the corner and impeccable service throughout. My soup was very...tasty and I was given a very generous portion. My mum-in-law loved her herring but the start was the wonderful bread they serve. Couldn't fault the place. Hope to return on a warm sunny day. If you want authentic classy Danish food in pleasant surroundings for a special occasion this is the place to go.More

Honestly one of my favorite restaurants, I go here once a year at least. The menu is small, but everything is of high quality and if you ask, you can get vegeterian options. The place is a little pricey but it's nothing compared to the...quality of the food. The staff is nice and very helpfull. The location is roght by a lake, although a bit far out from the closest city. The drinks are really noce too. They have ecological sodas, the best hot chocolate I have ever had and great wine to go with the food. This isn't a place for a short dinner, so make an evening out of it!More

I targeted this restaurant for a saturday motorcycle rideout. I showed up at opening time and found it to be all-set and with the owner waiting to welcome guests. I got settled, had a look at the menu and a chat with the owner. We...decided on a pair of 'smørrebrød' lunch bites and a low-alcohol craft beer to go with them. While the cook got on with it, I had time to lean back and enjoy the surroundings. No wonder this place has attracted celebrities and bohemes for a century. Located in the very most picturesque part of Jylland, right next to the lakes, and with interior laid out in a perfectly balanced mix between tradition and modern nordic style, you're left with a homey and relaxed sense of being utterly welcome. The food arrived, expertly, yet casually laid out. Complimentary bottle of cold water (proper glass!, not just plastic...). Chilled - not cold! - beer as well. Perfect. The bites of danish smørrebrød were pure heaven! Fish mousse and freshly cut - warm to the touch - pork roast with carefully selected trimmings and contrasting flavours. Someone had given this thought. Wow! Here, we're talking about a taste experience - not just american-style fill-yer-stomach-till-it-bursts. Don't come here, expecting to bring home a doggy-bag of excess food. Rather, come here, expecting an experience in taste! Relaxed, of course. Dress-code seems to be of less importance than engagement. Having settled the bill, I was offered a complimentary sweet as so many places do. But this one was definitely intended to let me go, thinking 'I want that recipy!'. These people know what they do. Relaxed professionalism! Nordic cuisine at its best.More

Ludvigslyst is so very good for lunch or dinner. The 'old' buildings will cater for you in a very modern way. You'll leave Ludvigslyst healthier than you arrive, for their meals are ecologically speaking very good for you.

Traktoerstedet Ludvigslyst has a charm and style from the days where there was enough time and full attention to details. Food made with the best ingredients, caring staff with a glimse in the eye, a fantastic view to the Silkeborg lakes and the most charming...hostess. It is a restaurant where you just want to come again - and again - and again !More

This must be the best restaurant in the Silkeborg area. Tasty, original food made of the best products and excellent and kind service. The setting is outstanding close to a beautiful lake and forest. We had the best game and entrecote we have ever had.

I took my mom and nephew here for a nice lunch. We had the "Stjerneskud" which is a favorite of mine. The fish was soggy, my moms bread was the end piece and hard to cut. The service was mediocre. The lunch was pricy which...is ok if the meal was better. I would not return to this place.More
