May Day Evening

We were recommended to the Stras by the hotel because their restaurant was shut on May Day. It was a good evening . The food was typical French brasserie served with great elan by the waiting team. Some of the group thought it the best meal of the trip.

When in a strange unfermilier city we look for a busy restaurant were the locals go. In this town we were lucky to get the last table at this mega successful eatery. After sizing up the huge menu we invariably go for the 2 / 3 course set lunch at usually between 12 to 15 euros pp. This restaurant ticks... More

Had diner at brasserie and I feel like I cooked a meal at home in a microwave ready to eat M&S bag. Extremely disappointed by frozen chicken an plain white rice. The salad was simple and tasteless. Definitely not worth to go.

The league table of restaurants is once again difficult to interpret in this French town with most of them getting excellent ratings 4-5 stars. This centrally located classical architecture restaurant (?Napoleon III - a mere guess) is full of local French and bustling with atmosphere. Sit inside or out but inside is a treat. Many tables and very high ceilings.... More

We sat down in the fantastic interior, and waited for 15 minutes ... still no service. There was more staff than guests, but the staff seemed to be in a lot of mutual conversations and alignments and doing in-explainable things, instead of helping customers. We got our coffee (grand creme), but still with the cups of the guests before us... More

The sevice was slow as the staff were so disorganised, flies were inside and out , ordered a vin rouge and got a rose, and the steak was wafer thin. When you enter the restaurant, it is quite grand, shame about the experience.

We were very pleased to discover this impressive-looking Brasserie right in the heart of Lon Le Saunier. It is part of the theatre building with high ceilings, chandeliers and attractively decorated walls and this is part of the enjoyment. More importantly, the service was prompt and friendly and the food was well presented, tasty and fairly reasonable in price. Happily... More

Very visible in Lons, we could have ended up anywhere but were very glad we ended up here. The food and service were excellent and the waiting staff didn't make me feel self conscious about my awful french language skills. The menu was classic bistro to match the classic look of the restaurant, well cooked and presented and not so... More

If you have an alternative, choose a different place. We didn't on a Sunday evening in August and the result quite confirmed the initial impression. Bad service, bad food. The children's menu was a joke as was the faux fillet. This is fast food quality.

Food was deceiving. Very nicely presented but I would not go back a second time. We ordered salmon and salad. Salmon was nothing special: you can do it at home yourself, probably better. Salad was too rich in ham and sauce...I had the same type of salad in some parisian brasseries and this one had nothing to do with a... More
