Best restaurant in Morrillo Beach. Best Restaurant in Torio. Hell, probably the best Restaurant in Panama. Just like another reviewer said, you'll find food here that isn't even offered in the highest-rated restaurants in Panama City. With a dizzying array of savory, flavorful, mouth-watering dishes...-- prepared farm-to-fork -- from cultures all over the world, topped off with a serene view of Morrillo Beach, El Sol is in a league of its own. I've tried the Dan Dan Noodles, Pad Thai, Szechuan Duck, Beef Rendang, Thai Red Curry, and Gyozas. Each time I set the bar higher and higher and each time the meal exceeded expectations. Sometimes my girlfriend and I would get a beer and dessert on top of dinner and our total was never more than $20-30/plate. We paid a similar amount for a slapped-together chicken pasta dish from a hotel in the area and I've never been so disappointed. We both agreed: we should've just went back to El Sol. Top-notch food, idyllic atmosphere, great prices. To top it off, Michael is an entertaining, welcoming host. Best restaurant in Morrillo and Torio, hands down. Absolute gem. Tip: For the best selection, send a message ahead of time. He marinates the meats for hours.More

Michael’s cooking is out of this world! We enjoyed meals that you wouldn’t find even in the highest rated restaurants in panama city. The beef rendang was especially out of this world. He is also a great host who makes you feel right at home....There’s not an inch of doubt in my mind that michael has the best food not only in Morrillo, but one of the best in all of Panama.More

Stumbled upon Michael’s restaurant by chance as we did not reserve in time for dinner at our hotel and they recommended his place. Couldn’t have had more luck. We ordered Beef Rendang, Dan Dan Noodles and 5S wings. This has seriously been one of the...best meals I’ve ever had in my life. Each dish was cooked to perfection. Saying it was exquisite even falls short for it! We plan on going today for dinner again and tomorrow for lunch, before heading back to the city. Thanks again Mike!!More

We stumbled upon Mike’s restaurant by chance, on our rental property’s manager’s suggestion. So lucky for us! We are vegan, and we had our reservations about finding suitable dinner on such a short notice in a meat and rice country. Not only Mike catered to...our needs, but he actually was excited about the culinary challenge! And what dinner it was! Homemade pasta with veggies, garlic and herbs from his garden and chili oil. So aromatic, it was to die for! It was an experience in itself, followed by a dessert of fresh fruit with bean curd. And the view and atmosphere to boot, with the backdrop of the rolling hills meeting the ocean, the sunset followed by the most dramatic starry sky display with the Milky Way. I just never saw that many stars in my life. Dinner was so good, we came back for a breakfast of savory porridge, herbs and probiotic vegetables accompanied by delicious coffee. Mike sets up a friendly and casual atmosphere in his restaurant. If you are lucky, he’ll introduce you to the English-speaking diners, and you might even make friends. I hear there are nights that when he sings and plays a guitar.... I can go on forever. If you are reading this to see if El Sol is worth a try, go there and prepare to be amazed!More

What a gem! This is a MUST visit if you are anywhere close to Morillo Beach, and if you're not, its a good enough reason to go there!! The food at El Sol is definitely worth the long drive - you really won't find better...food anywhere in Panama - I live in Panama City and have yet to eat at a restaurant that compares. We were really surprised to have this quality food in such a rural setting. Mike prepares all the dishes himself with fresh veggies grown in the garden.. Just contact Mike via Whatsapp and he will send you the menu - excellent variety of Asian dishes and lots of veggie and vegan options at very reasonable prices. We phoned ahead of time and were offered a Japanese 3 course meal - absolutely sensational - Can't wait to visit again and try the scrambled eggs!! Cheers MikeMore

I have been here several times and the food has been amazing. Hard to find anything like that in Panama. The owner / chef / manager cooks like the best in Central America. It can be Japanese, Thai, Korean all the way to French or...Panamanian. And fresh and sometimes unique (hard to get) ingredients. The restaurant also has great views and the hotel has a nice pool. Rooms are comfortable and in case you are on a budget or want to cook yourself: they are equipped with a small kitchen. But try at least lunch as that is also nice and very affordable.More

We were staying not far from there and decided to try to have dinner there, mainly after reading the great critics on Tripadvisor. It was about 4PM...so we were afraid that we would not be much welcome, but WOW! The owner, Michael, made us feel...like home and discussed with us the many possibilities we had for dinner. So many good things can be said about this restaurant!!! Pastas are homemade, food is delicious, wine too, the view from the terrasse is no less than spectacular (!!😮!!) service is customized, Michael speaks perfectly English, French (and probably one or two other languages). We did not see the rooms, but it is certainly worth considering this place for a stay too, because Michael is such a good host! The only piece of advise we would give him is to maybe rearrange a bit the entrance before the terrasse, where we arrive, because from the outside, it doesn't look as nice as it is when you get on the terrasse, and at one point we almost turned back first because we wanted something more chic....but we would have made a bad mistake! We had a great time there, thank you very much!!! 😊 Pierre and Anne-JulieMore

Thank you for the advice on the entrance. It should be remodeled this year sometime and a new road put in. Difficult to make a farm look pretty but there you have it. Goof food is based on good ingredients. Try the chicken and duck...More

I was totally shocked to find such amazing food in such a remote place. The menu is varied an extensive and to be honest I still don't know how Michael does it. I ate here almost every day during my stay and was never disappointed....High quality ingredients, incredible flavour and reasonably priced. Cannot recommend highly enough. Michael is a dedicated chef and super pleasant to hang out with as well. I'll definitely be back in Torio and now I know exactly where to go for my meals. Thanks again Michael.More

The food here is on par with anything you'll find in a fancy restaurant in a big city, and at a price (for what you're getting) that'll make you come back again and again... which is what we did over a week! The menu changes...and is flexible based on availability, but everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Highlights were the Massaman curry, the mushroom fettuccine, and the duck confit. Moreover, the view over the beach and landscape is truly stunning. Finally, Michael (the owner) is quite the character, worth meeting and chatting with. Thanks again!More
