Food here is pretty decent and wine selection is ok. The appetizers here such as tataki, foe gras, lobster salad, kampachi, and tempura were great. Excellent plating and taste. The entrees were good but not great. They seem to be more courageous with seasoning the appetizers but shy away from doing the same for the entrees. The loco mocco for... More

This restaurant is part of the (Marriott) Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. It is a lovely place with plenty of outdoor seating offering ocean views. Unlike other restaurants that are hit and miss, everything we ate here was good. From the bottle of Napa Valley Merlot to the ahi poke appetizer (much better than Lava Lava's, which we had just eaten... More

We took the shuttle from Hapuna Beach Prince, which was convenient. We were seated on the terrace with an amazing view of the bay. The server was excellent. I had the prix fixe with a Hawaiian version of caprese salad (just OK - goat cheese was strange for this dish), short rib Loco Moco (beef was great, carrots were undercooked),... More

This was our third large family event at Manta in twelve months and all were worth repeating. The two Sunday brunches were the most successful. The service staff were particularly attentive, providing for one high chair member as patiently as for the fussy adults at the table. The selections at the service stations were always being refreshed and ranged from... More

We had the lobster salads to start and the Veal Chop, and New York steak, Blacked Seared Ahi tuna, and The vegetarian entree and shared a mud pie for dessert. The lobster salad with grilled avocado were very ordinary and sadly under seasoned. Of the entrees only the Veal Chop was excellent, the blackened Seared Ahi was destroyed by the heavy-handed... More

Amazing service and beautiful view but mediocre food at best. We were very disappointed with the food. Split four dishes between the two of us. Would have rather cooked at home and had an amazing drink ( with mixologist Doug at the Copper Bar). The view is just as good one level up at the hotel.

We were staying at the Waikoloa resort area, and the closer restaurants were booked, so we grabbed a reservation at the Manta for the sunset. We ate outside, with a view of the beautiful beach. (We had been unable to get there early enough to enjoy the beach during the day, because of the limited access for people not staying... More

My wife and I woke up in paradise and were hungry. Thankfully the Mauna Kea Hotel had a wonderful breakfast buffet at Manta. There was everything from made to order omelettes to fresh fruit and even Japanese breakfast offerings. My personal favorite was the macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup...it's truly something different from the usual blueberry buttermilk pancakes I'm... More

Spectacular panoramic ocean view. We loved sitting outside. We were fortunate to talk with 2 local staff members, Alma our waitress and Cheryl veteran food runner, who were delightful. They gave us great service with warm friendly aloha. They really made us feel welcomed and at home. Buffet quality and variety of selections excellent. Pastries, papaya with lime, local produce...
