Absolutely amazing experience. Visited for a special occasion and enjoyed every second of it. The food was stunning, staff were lovely and very welcoming. We even met Tommy Banks after our meal which topped off what had already been an amazing evening. So glad we...More

When I asked my son how he would like to celebrate his 18th birthday; would he like a party? there was no hesitation when he said he would like to go to the best restaurant in the world. We went last night and had the...More

Loved most of the dishes but not all which may be due to my taste. The wine pairing is definitely a must. The staff are fantastic - very knowledgeable, helpful and obviously care about what they do. As other reviewers have mentioned, the dining room...More

There is no doubt that this is a fantastic restaurant but to my mind not everything works together. The restaurant was a lovely breakfast room but lacked ambience as a top flight restaurant. The tasting menu, which very helpfully was presented in a souvenir card,...More

We are lucky to have the opportunity to visit some of the top restaurants and were really looking forward to The Black Swan but it just doesn’t deliver. The food was very good, some genuinely great courses but the atmosphere just doesn’t work. The walls...More

We had booked ages in a advance for a meal for my husband and I (from Stockport) and two York friends. We planned to get the train, so we could all enjoy some drinks with the food. However, one week beforehand, my husband contracted cellulitis...More

We were a party of 6 (despite the website saying they can only take a max of 4 on a table). The food was wonderful, beautifully presented with each course expertly explained and described by the waiter as if he/she had prepared each course himself....More

Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived- the best cocktails, well-matched drinks pairing. All the food was delicious with ingredients that you would never think to try. Tomato+raspberry salad, langoustine, mackerel, and root vegetable toast were highlights. The service was lovely and relaxed. Lived...More

The tasting menu is intriguing and inventive. The starters were first class as was the service throughout. The signature dishes, although perfectly acceptable, we're just a tad disappointing - particularly the beetroot 'number' and the mackerel. The deserts were very inventive. The sommelier was extremely...More

From the moment we arrived in the picture perfect village of Oldstead we knew we were onto a winner. Our stay was booked in January and it was certainly worth the wait. We were greeted in the bar and taken to a beautiful cottage where...More

I didn't have any problems with the Tock system at all, but maybe it is a problem once they are full, the booking open six months in advance so every month they open booking for six months hence, hope this helps!

Michelin-starred Restaurant. 4 AA Rosette Restaurant. AA 5 Star Rooms. "This is an extraordinary place, a true one-off. Unbeatable."- Alastair Sawday's. The Black Swan is dynamic with a truly creative and innovative team developing new ideas from a constantly refreshed palate of produce which we grow and forage ourselves. Guests experience something unique - an intimate reflection of our character, our place and our lives which is in essence "Oldstead Now". Stylishly grounded in tradition and culture yet cut through with a modern earthy, exuberant creativity and the occasional glimpse of eccentricity.
