I always take my Dad to an Indian for Father’s Day and thought we’d come here for a change. Nice place, tables well spaced out. Didn’t have my normal dish so had to have something slightly different which was more expensive. Pilau rice didn’t much...look like what it was supposed to but tasted ok. Overall food was nice but the most expensive place we’ve been to especially when it was BYO! Supposed to have had £10 off tues-thurs but nothing came off my bill!More

The restaurant is absolutely spotless! The staff are so friendly and attentive (not over attentive) We had the poppadums and chutney tray for starters, which was delicious. We both had a curry for mains with keema rice, again lovely.

We ordered 4 curries, 4 rice's, and a selection of naans. Nothing was good. All curries were a really basic sauce of varying pastel colours with 4-5 pieces of tough meat in each container. Nothing in the sauces, no onions or texture or any type...of veg pieces in the sauce. The naans tasted burned, the pilau was basic unflavoured white basmati with flecks of green coloured rice. Not cheap either, just very very disappointing in every way.More

My wife and I went there with another couple last night and it was our first visit since it had been extended. It was a pleasure to be there - the decor is superb, the staff are lovely and as for the food its amazing.I...am not a huge fan of Indian but I could gladly sit there all day devouring what they serve. And on top of it you can take your own wine - no hint of a corkage charge. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough and if the system allowed me to give it ten stars I would. PS I am not a relative!!More

Fabulous lamb balti - really good heat and flavour. A superb dish! Pilau rice a dream - how can they cook rice like that?! Lovely! But peshawari naan a disappointment- did not hold together properly, poor texture and undercooked- shame. I’ll be back soon, though...not for peshawari naanMore

Nice clean decor, friendly and welcoming service and the food was outstanding, super fresh and hot. All-round quality restaurant, the best in the area by far. Plenty of parking nearby, BYO alcohol with Co-Op and Spar on the doorstep.

The value for money and quality of the food at this restaurant is far better than the other Indian restaurants I have tried in the Keynsham area. Upon dining in I found the staff to be attentive. Take aways I have had from this restaurant...have also been very good, will definitely come back again!More

Food was generally tasty - however we were dissapointed with the Tandoori King Prawn dish - this was not value for money as it was a very small portion size, which is unfortunate considering this dish was on the speical menu.

We've had several takeaways from here and they are always good. Our most recent was super. They even made us a vegetarian dish not on the menu. Always polite and on time. Great value for money.

Decided to try out the somewhat tucked out of the way Empire of India due to the number of "Excellent" reviews, rather than either of the 2 on Keynsham High Street. Plenty of parking within the square outside this small restaurant and a bit disappointed...to find the staff still vacuuming 10mins after opening (although we were the first customers) - however, we were seated reasonably quickly and the poppadoms/drinks order taken - note that this is a Bring Your Own alcohol, which is no problem with both a Co-Op and Premier close by. There was a good selection of dishes on the menu, including some 'House Specials' that you may not find elsewhere, which is always good to see. However, wanting to judge this restaurant from the many other curry houses in the area, we ordered our 'usual' selections of starters, mains, rice and breads. The starters were pretty much standard, I guess it's fairly tricky to do anything special with an Onion bhaji, the sheek kebab was moist but fairly bland and nothing special. Unfortunately, 'nothing special' appears par for the course, as the mains arrived and, whilst well-cooked and presented, were similarly nothing special. Finally, £45 for a couples' meal with no alcohol is on the steep side in my opinion. Overall, a good, solid performance - certainly an 3-Star 'Average' would be a disservice, but Empire of India falls short of 'Very Good' - so, as is often the case, three-and-a-half stars is the 'button' that we need! I guess the proof of the pudding is that there are too many other restaurants to try before rushing back to this one soon.More

we visited the Empire of India in May, it was to celebrate my retirement..there were 9 in our group. we were greeted with a smile and shown to our table where we all picked from the menu...the traditional pickle tray and poppadums were ordered and...we tucked in, they were delicious. when all our main meals arrived they were well presented and we all cleared our plates, the tastes and flavours were awesome and the quantities of meat in each dish was superb. this is a BYO which was once again a bonus. I was recommended this place by a friend and i,m glad he did, it,s a hidden gem in Keynsham..we will return...More
