Beautiful, charming, relaxing, and high quality food cooked with passion and style. We come here every time we visit family close by. It’s a must that makes our holiday more special. And when we go home to the UK we’re jealous every time we hear...the grandparents have paid Le Caillau a visit without us. Expertly run by Chas and his highly skilled and lovely team. It’s idyllic in every sense.More

Visited in June, and even then you need to book, although that's easy to do on their website - when you arrive you'll see why as it's a gorgeous setting offering a relaxed but very special dining experience. Service was friendly and attentive to the...right level. The food was amazing - 2 of us had the menu du jour which is superb value, a beautifully balanced and utterly delicious set of courses. The other member of the party enjoyed charcuterie, and guinea fowl and said it was the best meal she'd ever had!More

I had not been to this restaurant for some time so was interested to see if it had changed. We went at lunchtime on a beautiful sunny day so most guests were eating in the courtyard. Service was charming and prompt. The owner, who was...serving, must have walked miles but always with a smile. Food was delicious. My friends were very impressed with the food and the location.More

What a fabulous meal we had at Le Caillau. Having seen the menu in advance, we thought we'd already chosen what we'd have, but hearing that day's Menu du Jour we went for that instead and were not disappointed. We started with homemade pork spring...rolls with sweet and sour sauce, hake for the main course - which was cooked to perfection - and we finished with a mango Pavlova to die for. We were recommended to try a sparkling white wine from the neighbouring Chateau Gaudou as an aperitif - it was so good that I ordered more of it to accompany my meal. Wonderful food, friendly and efficient service, and in a beautiful setting - all in all, a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We plan to go back there very soon.More

We had a lovely drive to get here, and the final part of the journey through vineyards was beautiful. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated by Evelene who immediately made us feel at home. As she served our aperitifs, we almost felt as if...we were being served by a special friend. Her service was attentive, friendly and professional. All our requests for help, details, and changes were met with a no-problem attitude, which to me as an instructor of Customer Service courses indicates the quality of the business and a decision by the server to exceed guest expectations. All courses of our meal including wines were exceptional and this was definitely near the top of any of our dining experiences in France. Thank you to Chas and Caroline for our adventure with you and especially to Eve for making us feel more than welcome and at ease. Thank you, Eve. We all agree it was lovely to have met you! We're already looking forward to another visit!More

We have been going to Le Caillau since 2007, had some lovely meals for lunch or dinner, last night surpassed everything, starter sublime, the Pintarde excellent and the entrecôte steak something to die for. The best restaurant by far in the area and lots of...French dinners from Paris and other Departments of France, Belgium etc. Regards John & SueMore

Wow what an exceptional lunch. We drove from north of Brive to enjoy the delights of a relaxing lunch. Food, service and ambience were fabulous. Thoroughly enjoyed the plat du jour (Chicken) and the filet steak Pavlova and panna Cotta. Quality was top class with...friendly and engaging service. If you enjoy good quality food well prepared and very well presented then you’ll love this place. We’ll visit again when we back in france from the uk in june, august and september. We also enjoyed the wine from the chateau about 2km away in Bru. We called in and bought a case of the cedre extra libre. Delightful.More

Although we live in the area we had not visited this restaurant for many years as we had had a very poor experience on a previous visit. The dining area is so much better now and is separate from the cafe part. Nicely decorated. The..."head waitress" Eve is great and makes such a difference to customer relations. We felt as though we were welcome which was our main gripe on the last visit. Food on the menu de jour was good and the wine from Chateau Noziere was excellent. We hope a return visit will be as good .....fingers crossed.More

We had not been for a very long time and not just because of the pandemic, but because, with family and friends we had had some very disappointing meals. We enjoyed an excellent lunch on 8th October and will certainly recommend the restaurant once again....Lunch was delicious, beautifully presented, cooked perfectly and a much improved quantity. Overall a lovely surprise. Thank you and we will returnMore

This is a splendid restaurant set in a large courtyard located among the vines close to the river Lot. If it is too cold (or hot) to eat outside there is both a large covered area and also an airconditioned room. The food is consistently...good, both as regards quantity and quality. Service is swift and the waiting staff unfailingly pleasant and helpful. Several of our friends and family require gluten free dishes and suitable variations to set dishes are always provided without any fuss. The set menu du jour is always outstandingly good value. I don't believe we have ever had a bad meal here over many years - it is highly recommended.More

Le Caillau is located in a beautiful part of the countryside, set amongst acres of rolling vineyards. Our party ate outside under umbrellas on a balmy May afternoon and found the courtyard to be very peaceful and attractive. Service was fantastic, friendly, patient and not...over-bearing. The food was excellent, beautifully presented and just on the right side of experimental with its choice of flavour and texture. We had a delicious red to pair with our lamb fillets and 3 hours faded away rapidly! Would highly recommend.More

By any measure dining at Caillau is always a wonderful experience. The location is unique and memorable and whether you are seated indoors in the converted barn, or outside in the courtyard, it is highly atmospheric. Nestled among the vineyards in the Lot river valley,...there are stunning views. Great service is also a feature. Family owned and run, the host and his staff are friendly, helpful, keen to please and highly professional. To top it all the food is of the highest quality, with varied and imaginative menus. It is definitely one of our top choices in the area and highly recommended.More

We ate at Le Caillau on New Years Eve. The food, service, ambiance and room all contributed to a perfect way to spend the last evening of the year...... . We had an absolutely amazing meal. We have had lunch here before and the food...is always excellent but at New Year, even they managed to surpass themselves. Menu as follows Amuse bouche ~ Chestnut velouté ~ Seared scallops, braised fennel, orange and ginger sauce ~ Beef fillet, honey roasted winter veg, parsnip puree, sauce foie gras ~ Local cheese selection, walnut and apple salad, homemade chutney ~ Raspberry mousse with a chocolate ganache centre, chocolate macaron biscuit, red fruits The owner and staff are friendly and helpful. The building is refurbished beautifully and we had the table for the whole evening. It was amazing value for money and you also had the opportunity to chose their wine pairing suggestions as a package or by the glass if you so chose. The service was superb, the food was fabulous (my only complaint is I didn't manage to obtain the Chestnut volute recipe..... next time !!!). I cannot recommend a visit highly enough. Thank you for a fabulous evening.More
