Sadly this place is just that little bit too gastro pubbish . The crowd that it attracts is slightly too 'new money'-ish (40 year old 'dads' wearing rugby shirts and signet rings etc) and the food was, in my opinion, too meat-centric. My suggestion is to work towards improving the overly pressed in place 21st Century ambiance (multiple white Range... More

This is a friendly pretty pub that we have now visited twice, once last winter for a drink and again this month for dinner. The staff are welcoming and friendly, service efficient and not at all slow. The drinks we had on our visit this month as well as in the winter were great. When we visited in winter it... More

This was our second visit within a month to the Wednesday Steak night. First visit excellent . Not this time. I ordered a medium rare steak . Came out medium to well. The second attempt more like blue . It was if the chef(cook) showed the meat the flame and then slapped it on my plate (cold) . Third try.... More

A group of three females called in at this delightful and unpretentious village pub on a weekday lunchtime. We got a friendly welcome, a choice of tables - we were quite early - and were quickly settled with drinks and menus. All three of us chose the tomato and basil soup followed by starters. The menu didn't say it was... More

We have often visited the Abingdon Arms over the years and it has been alright. But now it is very good indeed. Today we went for a light lunch - crayfish tails, smoked salmon, salad and bread. The dressing was outstanding, while the quality and quantity of the crayfish and smoked salmon was exceptional. We are looking forward to more... More

We stumbled across this pub whilst out for a country drive and we so glad we did, the staff were friendly and helpful finding us a table in the garden which has terrific views of open country. Our prawn cocktail starters were very good but the main courses of roast beef with all the trimmings were just amazing, I honestly... More

I was staying in Beckley for the summer 2 years ago (2014) with friends and found the Abingdon Arms almost immediately. It's a combination of local pub and area restaurant. Right when I arrived it had just changed hands, and the owners were completely revamping the menu. Their son was head cook, and he has superb taste. Every dish is... More

We had been recommended to visit this pub by a friend so decided to give it a try. Always looking for somewhere different to go! Tucked away in a really picturesque village, we were pleasantly surprised at what we found. A warm welcome from the landlord who assisted in advising my partner on what local beers were on offer. We... More

Had a great meal and the staff were all very welcoming and there was a good choice of food and some great ales. Food was excellent and very fairly priced. Would highly recomend this to all my friends

The Abingdon Arms is a quintessential country pub, set in the lovely Oxfordshire countryside, 4 miles from Oxford and and 10 miles from Bicester. Situated on a limestone escarpment at over 300 feet above sea level, our garden offers commanding views across Otmoor, looking over Charlton on Otmoor and further afield towards Bicester and beyond. We offer a countryside escape from the hustle and bustle over nearby Oxford and Headington, and also a pleasant detour away from the daily grind of the A34. Beckley is an idyllic Oxfordshire village, with a long and rich history. We have a large bar, and attached restaurant, and together with our lovely garden, we can accommodate over 70 for lunch or dinner. We are also a great location for an Oxfordshire countryside wedding reception, or other family events; see our page regarding hosting your event here. We are both family and dog friendly (bar and garden only for dogs), and welcome walkers stopping off the Oxfordshire Way for a rest! We are also only a mile away from the RSPB Bird Reserve at Otmoor. We offer a large range of Brakspear and guest beers, wines from Cockbarn and Campbell, and a full range of home cooked food sourced wherever possible from local Oxfordshire suppliers. We are proud to be a traditional village local, at the heart of the Beckley village community, as well as a great place to eat and drink with a short drive from Bicester, Oxford and the surrounding villages of Otmoor. We look forward to making you welcome! Samantha, Steve and Head Chef Will.
