I ate here and was pleasantly surprised by the menu. All reasonably priced and for a change not the run of the mill chain food. The meal I had was sublime if I was to criticise I'd say the portions are enormous, but the food was so good I had to eat it, leaving no room for a dessert. The... More

If I could rate this place another half a star then I probably would.. as it deserves it. Home cooked food in a nice friendly setting that is frequented by both locals and the holiday crowd alike. That said it's not perfect and I can't help feeling a little underwhelmed. Could do better...

Who says they can't cook outside of London? The Windmill has great food. I really enjoyed the lamb shank. Portions are generous. They can do chips (couldn't say that of many pubs in the capital). Came here on the way home from York. Have been before and it's always lovely. Food comes quickly and the staff are all friendly. The steak pie and chips are amazing! The Cajun chicken was very tasty and the portions are very generous. Was disappointed I didn't have room for a delicious looking pudding! Would recommend.

Stayed for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed out stay. Clean rooms in a purpose built annexe next to a public house/restaurant. Beer garden & childrens play area. Very quiet despite location next to a busy road. Good choice of breakfast and I can recommend the smoked haddock & poached egg. Large portions & very filling. All staff very pleasant to... More

By Gum they know how to eat in Yorkshire!! The food was excellent and the portions large, too large for us Southeners! Excellent value, especially if you can do justice to the portions.
