By Gum they know how to eat in Yorkshire!! The food was excellent and the portions large, too large for us Southeners! Excellent value, especially if you can do justice to the portions.

Visited Saturday dinner time, approximately 6pm. The place was fairly quiet, which was not expected really! This mean't that we got a seat no problem however. Ordered a combination of dishes such as the mixed grill and steaks. All were enjoyed by the party. Sides were plentiful in portions, but lacked variety. Good experience overall. The staff were friendly, if... More

Ok, just ok. As you would expect, mainly a food house but you can get a beer whilst passing (fosters 4 quid mind) and pub nibbles. We had a bowl of very poor onion rings, and were informed that salt and vinegar were inside on one of the restaurants tables ...... (We were in the beer garden). Oh, and when... More

Went for family meal, 12 of us, was about average for pub meal prices. Everything cooked from fresh so don't go if your in a rush, food was nice, fairly basic menu, nothing spectacular but I guess lack of choice was because what they do they do well and no point in changing,

My wife and I stayed here for one night on route to Scotland and booked a tablet for our evening meal. The food at The Windmill is fantastic, plentiful, and great value for money. The staff are very friendly and efficient. If we are passing through the York area again we would stop here again for a meal for sure.
