Whilst we did not dine here the menu was comprehensive for pub food. Sitting on the main road from Danbury to Chelmsford, we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of garden furniture and how the road was obscured. Sitting beneath the trees my brother and I enjoyed some quality lager and cider and can heartily recommend this... More

My friends and family have visited The Griffin many times now and have never been disappointed. Lunch with my Daughter, Granddaughter and a friend - 2 of us had baguettes with chips and salad, reported to have thoroughly enjoyed. I love the fish and chips and my Granddaughter always goes for the pizza which looked very tasty. Complements all round for... More

On previous occasions I have been very disappointed with the Griffin but with new management and a new menu I thought I would give it another try. The menu is not vast but there are dishes to suit most tastes and none in our party were unhappy. Two of us had Paella, which was more like Risotto and having a... More

The food here is generally ok. Starters were ok, and the roast fairly nice although the beef was rather fatty. The child's portion of sausage and mash had very little mash (our 3 year old is not a massive eater and polished it off in no time) but taste wise was fine. Service was on the slow side, but friendly.... More

Our first visit here and we will be returning. Really nicely done inside. The food was very nice with a decent choice - it was a nice change to see a pub offering pizza as a main course also. All food served was of good quality and tasted good. Our only slight criticism was the 'pie of the day' (chicken... More

Haven't been here for some years and but has been smartly refurbished - a nice setting and good attentive service. Speed of food arriving was on the slow side but well presented and worth waiting for.

The Griffin is one of the pricier pubs in the area but the food is always good. The staff are friendly and you are made to feel welcome - we will drive to the Griffin rather than walk to other pubs for this reason! It's always worth it.

Sunday lunch was very nice, I had the roast beef and my partner had the braised lamb shoulder. Very tasty and portion size was perfect, the Yorkshire puddings are great! I hadn't visited for a few years as I found it was lacking consistency, we'll be back soon and hope the standard is just as good as this time! Would... More
