We were going to hire a car to drive out to a village for authentic atmosphere and food, rather than the touristy harbour, however our hotel recommended Costas's. We went twice and think that says it all. Rustic, great atmosphere, wonderful food (huge portions) friendly...helpful staff. Can't wait to go back.More

Not a tourist trap. This taverna is used regularly by locals and ex pats with the odd tourist. The food is exceptional. From the salad and dips to the meat and seafood. We are treated like family by Costas and Mario. We have been going...for many many years since it was a small taverna. Is been a joy to watch the taverna expand but the food quality has never wained. Its my favourite taverna on the island. The pork chop is a must, be warned its a bigunMore

Six of us went to Costas Tavern last night before one of the couple's return to the UK today. Three of us opted for the meat meze, two had the vegetarian meze and one had chicken kebab. The meze had been recommended on Facebook and...we weren't disappointed. The food just kept coming both for the veggie couple (they weren't vegetarians but just fancied trying it) and us carnivores. We found the food was excellent and plentiful and unlike a lot of places that reduce the amount of food to increase their profits this place did not skimp on anything. The waiting staff (all male) were efficient, attentive and friendly even though they were rushed off their feet by the whole place being full up with locals out for a good Saturday night. We had booked for a Saturday night due to friends wanting to try a 'typical Cypriot taverna' and knowing there would be music laid on we'd mentally prepared ourselves. We hadn't prepared ourselves for the sheer volume of the trio who, although musically gifted, must have thought the audience was stone deaf; as indeed we were when we finally left the place. As previously mentioned the place was packed with locals who joined in the singing of the songs which were naturally in Greek and the one complaint we had was due to a number of tables openly smoking or vaping inside which permeated the air with noxious fumes and smoke which we thought was not only illegal but thoroughly inconsiderate and we were surprised the waiting staff and management appear to condone this. If in the future we re-visit this taverna we will go on a non music evening but a lot depends on the attitude to smoking; none of our party smokes and going by the number of locals who never left their tables for a puff it would appear the vast majority were also non smokers so it's a shame the evening was marred by the selfish actions of a few.More

Ate here last night (25th October) after a recommendation from a waiter at our hotel, we wanted a traditional tavern, the opposite of our hotel even though the food was pretty good. We turned up with no booking at 7pm, the place was almost empty....We had the 25 plate meze for two people between me, my wife and my 10yr old son - wow!! So much food. Had no idea what was coming, but it kept coming. We lost count. All excellent, but the thin lamb steaks were the best by far! We had a top end €30 Shiraz which was lovely too. Would be twice the price in the U.K. Service excellent considering the place got pretty busy quickly.More

We just got back from a quick 4 day getaway in Cyprus and had to leave a review for this place. We dined here on Saturday night (called first and managed to book a table last minute!) The food was absolutely incredible, probably some of...the best food I have ever eaten. I shared a meze with my partner (I am vegetarian, he is a meat-eater) and it was absolutely amazing. Every dish was delicious. There was plenty for both of us and it didn't feel like there were just token vegetarian options either, this was proper food. We were both absolutely stuffed at the end of the night but we had such a fantastic time. There was live music playing and the atmosphere was lovely. This was just the sort of thing we were after and if we visit Cyprus again we would definitely go back here! There were plenty of other amazing looking things on the menu, it was very reasonably priced and the booze was great too!More

Went here on our last night in Paphos on recommendation of taxi driver - BRILLIANT. Food and even house wine was excellent and very well priced. Tasty and fresh. A lot of seemingly locals in using it. Two lads waiting on worked tirelessly and were...well worth the tip we left. Would deffo return if/when in Paphos again. Music possibly too loud for much conversationMore

I have been there a couple of times during the last 6 weeks. On Friday and Saturday evening there is live music and you must book a table in advance. If you arrive until 7:30 pm you have still the possibility to choose your table,...later it becomes crowdy During the other days there are enough tables to choose without resetvation. The personal is very friendly and the service excelkent.More

This is a very interesting review. We are very disappointed in your response to our meals. Firstly, 18 euros for 500g of lamb chops, chips, grilled vegetables, yoghurt sauce and pourgouri is a great price, which is cheaper than other restaurants around. Secondly, we definitely...More
