Living in London you often dream of a traditional pub lunch. Yes, there are plenty of gastropubs around with rare breed meats and craft beer. But the mind wanders, and sometimes takes you out of the smoggy metropolis, into the Garden of England which is Kent. What a pleasure it is, then, to discover a perfect beef and venison pie... More

This is an old word pub and restaurant. Was taken here with family and we had a great time. We sat near the wonderful wood fire which just added to the experience. Food was wonderful, great choice, nice wines and sweets. There is the possibility to eat and drink outside in the garden, to cold for us in Feb.

On a cold winters night the visit to this pub by our group on a pub and culture weekend was brilliant. Great choice of beers and a very friendly welcome. Food was excellent, huge steak and kidney puddings and a good variety of old school desserts. Service was very quick considering how crowded the pub was

Went here for lunch with a group of friends on Sunday. I'd been once before, but years ago so was hopeful that it would still be good. We were not disappointed. The roasts were absolutely gorgeous (and so many options!) those in our party who had the vegetarian lasagna said it was the best they'd ever had, the service was... More

Nice log fire ,low ceilings, quirky place old woldy, which we all liked had... More

Running a rambling club (d'you see what I did there?) that meets every month I am pushed to find a different pub to have our well earned Sunday lunch at. We have been here before but not for a few years now. The Spotted Dog did not disappoint. There were only a few of us this time but the consensus... More

Description
What you get at The Spotted Dog, Penshurst, is an independently run lovely old rambling 15th century white clapboard building (which started life as several cottages), paneling, low beams and three open fires. It is warm and welcoming in winter but equally enticing in summer. The pub is positioned in beautiful countryside with tiered beer gardens at the front and back, the latter affording an outstanding view. This is a family-friendly pub where the older generation, children, tourists, walkers and dogs are all welcome. The food is mostly traditional English with some gourmet specials and fish dishes with fresh fish delivered daily. Consequently, the specials board changes daily.Being a free house there are always three different beers available, normally a Larkins, Harveys and another guest beer. The wine list is extensive and includes wine by the glass.
