This restaurant is fab, great service and food almost always ... Exception when the post Chester races crowd descend on mass, somewhat overwhelming the normally very efficient staff. Good is always great, and wide selection of goo drinks (beers / wines / cocktails etc).... It's a regular jaunt for me 😉

Piccolino used to be a real destination in Hale but it seems to have lost a bit of its appeal. The staff still remain excellent and very welcoming of regular diners. However, it is definitely not special enough to justify its high prices and the competition is therefore becoming much more interesting.

I've given 1 star and that's because they dealt with my problem properly by taking the cost of my meal off the bill. Vongole is my favourite Italian dish and this was the worst one I've had, my wife had the same and it was not good. Cold, flavourless, dry; I had to get rid of the first mouthful in... More

Have just returned from a meal at Piccolino's, Hale - and was extremely disappointed to say the least! Firstly, we were shown to a table which was right next to the kitchen door, bar and in a direct draft from the main door - probably the worst table in the restaurant - we asked to be moved and were patronised... Ordered the king prawn starter, which was fine. Calzone for main. It was the worst pizza I've had in a restaurant. It was flat and looked like the chef had sat on it. Presentation was poor. The filling was meagre and undercooked, as was the inside of the dough. I complained and, fair enough, they took it off the bill.... More

Busy buzzing place, more for the young ones! Food looked good but very salty, is that to make us drink more? Waiting staff very attentive. Felt a bit rushed tho.

Visited here on Friday night with my friend to celebrate my birthday having been to several Piccolinos restaurant the one in Hale is always busy with great atmosphere. We had a table on the terrace which was fully covered with heaters giving it a medditeraen feel. Shared cheesy/tomato bread followed by Salmon wrapped in Parma ham and sea bass with... More

I come here regularly and have done for years. Often with my boyfriend but more regularly in a large group of friends. The size and setting of a restaurant suits a large group and the food is very good. Their take on a roast dinner is good too. Much simpler to what you would expect but they've obviously decided they're... More
