Great British pub

This is a great British pub, brilliant selection of cask ales, the food is high end pub cuisine, the portions are big and it's served in a quient old fashioned low beamed atmosphere, real log fires to keep you toasty warm this time of year. This is a pub with a great and friendly atmosphere

Have been coming to this pub on and off for over 20 years and have eaten in the Cowshed a few times. It's not the cheapest eatery but there is some truth in the saying that "you pay for what you get". My wife and I decided to have an early evening treat as we had not been able to... More

It's a lovely little place, tucked away from the busy roads. Just been for lunch and the food was excellent, the service cannot be faltered and the atmosphere with the lighting and open fires really are just perfect this time of year. The staff are polite, courteous and you are neither pressured or are expected to wait to long, the... More

We stopped off at lunchtime for a drink and bar meal and that was very good. We returned later for dinner in The Cowshed Restaurant. The restaurant was quiet (midweek) but the food and service were both very good. Well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.

Our visit today was a quick stop for a beer and a snack. Wonderful, both the beer and the cheese and ham toastie were delicious. Atmosphere great with warming real fires and someone had gone to town with the lovely Christmas decorations. Pubs like this are few and far between, so many have turned over to the kind of eateries... More

We keep coming back for more, our favourite workplace eatery. Everyone gets excited when we plan lunch here and we are never disappointed. I'm working my way through the light bites and snack section and haven't had a bad experience yet. The staff can't do too much for you and always make sure we don't over run our lunchtime despite... Went for Christmas Menu with a party of 17. Pub was busy but not overcrowded. Had brie fritters for starters (salmon, mouse, soup pate also available), Turkey dinner for main (beef stew, cod also avail), cheese for pudding(Christmas pudding and brownie also available. Service good, portions certainly far from generous (thought the vegies on side plate were for me but... More
