We were a group of 21 family members from the U.S. and Norway who were in Pettorano sul Gizio to visit the village of my grandparents. We had made arrangements in advance for dinner one night and lunch the next, at Il Torchio. We did not expect the incredible food we were served. It was the best I had in... More

We visited the lovely town on the way to Barrea (another lovely location). It is a small restaurant that was totally empty when we entered it on a Saturday for lunch --later another two guests arrived. I am always wary of empty restaurant and started to worry, but the friendliness of the service put us immediately in a good mood.... More

in this small mountain town, it seems to go back to the Middle Ages, small streets, unthinkable panoramas, squares with fountains . I had dinner outside in this small square . the menu was very different and unusual and refers to the peasant traditions : white frozen wine "Pecorino" , black pork "ventricina", meat and liver sausage laurel smoked, Gregorio... We stayed a week in Pettorano to research my ancestry and were so delighted with this place, we went twice for dinner. There are only two restaurants in the town itself--this and a pizza restaurant up the hill, which wasn't open once during our visit. However, the high rating for il Torchio is not for lack of competition; it is... More

The meal we had a It Torchio was excelent We has anit-pasti, polenta and pizzas and washed it down with a delicious local white wine. The atomosphere and service were excellent. I would recommend Il Torchio to anyone... More

We spent the night in Sulmona and we decided to visit the zone closer to it. We found Pettorano sul Gizio by choice! I really recommend to visit it and to have a dinner or lunch at "Il Torchio". The place was very suggestive and there was a special atmosphere. The food was really good, both pizza and primi (... More

We spent a good few evenings at this fantastic place in July and August (this year, last year and the year before that). The food is exceptional with dishes unique to the village of Pettorano. The produce is provided by the farmers of the area and every dish is mouthwatering. Even the pizzas are excellent. The menu is in the... More
