On our little Irish coast drive, we stopped in super cute Ballyvaughan and found this gem of restaurant. Located just next to the water, you have a lovely view, the staff is welcoming and very kind. The food is just incredible, seafood is delicious and portions are big! Stop by for sure if you are in the nearby. Loved it!

Went there to get a bite to eat but only served sea food . No irish traditional food at all. Not everyone eats sea food. I am sure the sea food is good but needs to look at the bigger picture.

Monks is a traditional pub with great seafood and Guinness. The view of Galway Bay is nice and the staff are friendly and helpful.

I stopped into this Pub/restaurant for dinner. I was greeted warmly by Sean, who encouraged me to sit by their fire. I ordered the Beef Stew and wasn't disappointed. It was rich and hearty, just what I needed on a cool November evening. Then, Melissa, another member of the wait staff, came by, and we chatted. Both very friendly and... More

Beautifully renovated very recently, really thoughtful, traditional/modern decor. Dropped in for quick lunch on the coast road to Galway City. Chowder is to die for, everything super fresh. Great, friendly service from staff and looking forward to returning again very soon!

We had dinner at monk's. We both took crab claws as starter and fishnchips and the mussles as main. Both was fresh and delicious. The bottle of wine suited perfect on the fish. Restaurant and staff is satisfying. Go to monk's...!

This was the 1st restaurant we ate, in Ballyvaughan. I ordered the local mussels dinner. They were done in a butter wine sauce, which was very flavorsome, but the mussels were fairly small. I had a side salad with the mussels; average at best. My husband had a warm prawn salad, which he said was missing something in taste. The... More

We enjoyed Monks so much, we came back a second time for lunch. It's a inviting and cozy retreat complete with large stone hearths offering warmth on those (occasional) cool & drizzly days. They specialize in local seafood and offer lunch and dinner. They make the best seafood chowder and brown bread we've ever eaten. We found the staff friendly... More

Was really excited to visit this place based on the high recommendation from my friend. We arrived to a sparsely crowded place and found a nice table near the window. We began ordering a crab salad and fish and chips with a glass of cabernet sauvignon. The wine was so so and we began to wait for our food, and... More
