After visiting the Rock of Cashel, we walked through the local neighborhood and found this Gem. Servers were polite, Food was delicious, and the atmosphere was outstanding.

Excellent lunch, in this compact bar and restaurant. A real find. Staff very friendly, and a good pint of stout.

We would walk to The Buttery several times a year to enjoy sumptuous dinners in a lovely setting. Unfortunately, the Cashel Palace Hotel and The Bishop's Buttery have been closed since Christmas 2014. If a new owner can be found with the cash pile to renovate the historic premises, I'm certain to return.

Really excellent place to relax and have a nice meal and a pint at not just the end of the day but anytime. Great people, great food and great atmosphere.

Fascinating list of famous names, extracted from the hotel register, on one wall near the bar. Another wall has a painting of a small group of people at the races (Cheltenham 1952, I think) - again you can amuse yourself by spotting the famous people in the group.

We had a very fine lunch in the sit down restaurant recently. At first we thought it strange, they seemed to be encouraging us to go to the bar food, but in fact the service in the restaurant was excellent and the food, very good indeed. For a three course lunch for four, including two half bottles of the house... More

We were trying not to have a big lunch as we were having dinner later but couldn't resist a cheese plate. We couldn't finish it so the charming waitress kept it for us for after dinner. It was totally refreshed with new cheese and fruit when we it it later after dinner. Lunch was very good and reasonably priced. Lovely... More

We dined here as party of 6 with two almost 7 year old grandsons. Food was excellent (though a bit slow in arriving) and service was delightfully attentive.

The food here was absolutely gorgeous. I had a risotto of duck rillets and Parmesan shavings followed by baked cod with roast vegetables that were cooked to perfection. A white chocolate panacotta to finish off with gorgeous coffee topped the meal off to perfection. Add in a great waitress (Claire) and it was special!
