Six of us ate here midweek. We sat in the 'outside' section which is actually well protected with wind breaks and overhead covering - so feels airy but also not cold. There were wall mounted heaters but they were not required. Food was very good. Service was efficient and very friendly and prices were reasonable with a total of €265 for 6 mains, two nice bottles of wine and coffees. They dealt very well with the 'Covid' requirements also. An enjoyable night out.

we had a wonderful evening here ,got a great table overlooking the harbour and watched the sun set on the water simply beautiful I had the black sole and my husband had the duck which he said was the nicest duck he had ever tasted. great selection of wines at reasonable prices.Staff were very friendly and attentive and all wore face shields and social distancing was very well done . This is a great resturant in a beautiful setting which is full every night ,well done to all at man friday

This family-owned restaurant is just such a gorgeous and exceptional place to dine. With its brilliant location, overlooking the town, the kitchen (run by food-artist Dominic) produces an excellent array of great fresh food. Anything from fish to red meat to poultry. All superbly prepared and presented. Prices also represent great value - given the food quality Those of you who read my reviews (less flow since the onset of Covid), know I am a tiramisu disciple/fanatic. And if you have a sweet tooth you will LOVE this dessert. Absolutely love it. And all this is achieved despite the costly, staffing and disruptive challenges in these covid times Add to the above the truly wonderful wonderful wonderful staff and you will not forget a great dining experience at Man Fridays

Booked for dinner here on our stay in Kinsale. Restaurant is nicely appointed with stunning view. Initial welcome was warm and friendly. We ordered the Scampi starter and crab gratin and both arrived promptly and were superb. The wine was also served promptly and was reasonably priced for this standard of restaurant. After that we waited and waited. Other guests arrived and had their mains delivered but we were left with nothing. Eventually after 45 mins, we asked the waitress was there a problem and were told our mains were coming. No explanation and no apology. They arrived some 15 mins later. I had the duck which again was delicious, my partner had the turbot which again was lovely. However again no explanation or apology was given for the delay. It was too late to have dessert so we asked for two glasses of wine. Again we were told....they are coming after waiting 15 mins. At this stage the Restaurant was not busy. When the eine arrived we were told it would not be charged to the bill due to the delay. We brought this to the attention of the other waitress who took our payment and she was most apologetic, however, I am afraid we could not recommend this Restaurant as our experience was ruined by the simple lack of any apology or explanation for the delay at the time.

As a party of 4 we were lucky to get a place at this restaurant as we were walk ins , It was our Wedding Anniversary So it was lovely to go for a meal with our Son and my best friend. Or so we Thought . The food was ok nothing to rave about . The male staff were pleasant, however the female waiting staff were like dinner ladies , ones you’d get at school no pleasantries. One waitress in particular swiped the cutlery and our drinks which we weren’t finished. Shouted In a load voice “I’ll be needing this table now “ . We barely got the time to get up from our seats . Considering that the bill came to over 200 euros and my husband left a good tip it was a disrespectful way to be treated . To top it all as we were leaving we were verbally abused by a group of senior citizens, who were trying to come in as we were trying to leave and social distance at the same time. I do think this is down to the restaurant management to organise properly and not for people to be piling in on top of other people trying to leave in this time of Covid ,One more thing the female toilets are filthy and out dated . We will never set foot in this restaurant again we made a bad mistake considering all the beautiful restaurants we could have chosen from in Kinsale .

Visited Man Friday yesterday evening (Saturday) and it was very disappointing to say the least. I had the crab to start and there was so much onion in it, I had to pick most of it out, I would highly recommend less onion. My partner had the oysters and he could not believe one of them was served as it was so tiny. He had the oysters in Fishy Fishy the evening before and said there was no comparison, Fishy Fishy was streets ahead. The main course of chicken was fine, again, lots of onion through the sauce! There are plenty of seats outside but they do not allow a drink before or after the meal, and we have had this facility offered in most places we have eaten. A lovely man was paying as we were queuing to pay and he asked if they could have 1 more drink outside after their meal. It was a blatant no by a oldish lady at the till. The place is not cheap by any means and I just thought, those people paid a lot and were refused one drink before they headed home. Don't think we will be visiting here the next time we're in Kinsale. Far better seafood restaurants to eat in, and less strict on rules.

Dinner was very rushed, staff were ok, food was just average( Duck overcooked) very little cooking needed for starters. Menu from the 90’s/ 80’s nothing stand out at all, not good value expensive. Wont be going back sorry.

We ate there just as the Covid-19 impact a was starting g to be felt. Tables were widely spaced and there were less people eating there than normal according to the staff. We got a great table, picked our menus and wine and it all moved smoothly after that. Starters of stuffed mushrooms and soup followed by fillet steak and a chocolate dessert.....lots of chat with the staff and despite the obvious problems with the virus this was a great meal and night out :) We’ll come back later in the year.....

Family celebration, attentive to every need. Best duck I’ve had. They serve the children’s meals, at the right temperature (no-one else thinks of this) and promptly with the adult starters so you can enjoy your meal. I have the duck every time. I’ve tried duck in many places and no where tops it. Service is excellent. One of my favourite restaurants, consistently gets it Right. Well done!

Ate here while in Kinsale for the day. We ate from the early bird menu which was 31euro for three courses, steak being extra. Plenty choice for four different tastes efficient service and relaxing atmosphere. Would highly reccommend

We’d a lovely meal here on Monday evening. We ate outdoors in a beautiful setting over looking the Harbour. Staff wore PPE and you felt at ease as they were visibly cleaning menus etc and plenty of hand sanitizer throughout the restaurant. Very impressed and reassured with necessary measures taken. The meal was fabulous I had portabello mushrooms to start with and the Fish pie, my husband had Brie and seafood platter kids had goujons and chips. The staff were very friendly especially Wendy that served us. Thanks for a lovely meal.

We have visited this restaurant a few times before, mostly it was good except for our visit on Friday the 22nd. Very frustrating to say the least, they mixed up our steaks and how we wanted them cooked, which I suppose doesn’t sound asa huge problem, after swapping steaks with my wife I was completely in shock,a medium well steak that felt like I was chewing on leather, absolutely no taste whatsoever. My wife had my fillet steak because of the mistake and she could only laugh, that’s how tasteless it was. We ordered a bottle of wine, obviously that didn’t work either,we received a completely different wine, this happened before the steaks so I didn’t make any fuss about it. What surprised me the most was that when the waiter came to clear the table, he removed both our plates each of them had at least 60/70% of the food left on them, the only question we were asked was, would you like a desert?? Obviously the answer was no. When I told the waiter about our food he said he would tell them in the kitchen.. All in all it was a terrible meal and I was an am really shocked that nobody came to discuss this with us. I guess it doesn’t matter to them as tourists will still book because it’s supposed to be a good restaurant!! We live in Kinsale, we’ve eaten there before and it was much better but unfortunately we won’t be going back..

I always feel first impressions are extremely important and Im afraid our recent visit to Man Friday was very disappointing. We walked in and the Restaurant Manager had her back to us, as strangely her screen faced away from the door. Two other members of staff looked up and looked away. In my view a restaurant of this caliber should have a hostess/manager who is there to greet diners with a smile and a welcome the minute they walk in the door. Both our starters were great, as were our mains courses. But my husband asked for the cheese board and asked our waitress what cheese was on it. The waitresses reaction was " do you want to know everything on it ?" My husband said, well yes please. She stomped off and returned 10mins later, stood by the table, picked at her nails and told him without looking at him. It was so unprofessional and disrespectful. He ordered the board, I ordered my dessert and 20 mins later it arrived. We were also aware of orders being incorrect at tables beside us. If a member of staff is asked about an item on their menu, they should know the answer or at least be pleasant and say they will find out. This woman was rude. Needless to say, against our usual generous tipping habits, we did not leave a tip. Also while we were sitting at the bar awaiting a taxi a group of woman had had dinner, but want to pay separately. The restaurant manager told them she was not happy to do this. One of the women said that none of them were in a position to pay over €400 on their card and that money was money, that the restaurant should be more accommodating. The manager was rude and gave each woman grief as she reluctantly took the individual payments...... They say they are extremely busy, but they wont be for long if they treat their customer like this. Wouldn't be in a rush back and regardless of great food, I wouldnt be recommending it. Manners and respect are more important than food......

I was recommended my two separate groups to Man Friday. My husband and I walked in no reservation and were so warmly welcomed by Conny. The restaurant was packed but she cheerfully asked us if we could wait a bit and she would find us the perfect table which she quickly did. The restaurant is beyond quaint, cozy and charming but she took the time to situate us at a table with a perfect view of Kinsale before sunset. As if that we not enough, we were happily greeted by our waiter Slavo, impeccable ( had Conny’s customer service skills). Then the meal BEYOND PHENOMENAL. I am an Italian New Yorker but this may have been the best meal I ever had. The Brie cheese and salad appetizer was perfectly seasoned crisp and light. The hake was so flavorful with fresh ingredients and beautifully presented to my husband. Picture perfect! Then came my duck not gamey but cooked to utter perfection accompanied by a melody of hot scrumptious mashed potatoes and a combination of broccoli peas and beets that was to die for. The grain bread and sweet butter was so good we left with no room for desert. But out they came warm apple pie with ice cream, flourless cake and the all famous Irish Coffee. We were so pleasantly surprised by the hospitality, friendliness, location and beauty of the restaurant but most of all a meal beyond to be imagined. If you are anywhere in Ireland make a reservation as they are packed but this restaurant is not to be missed!

We were here last night lovely setting and very good staff but food and presentation of food was very disappointing. Lacked flavour we ordered the early bird menu. I had the burrata which was very insipid and and my husband had the pate which he said was tasty but the accompanying jam was literally liquid. I has the Burrata which was very insipid and not well presented. We paid a supplement for sirloin steak which looked more like minute steak it had a lot of fat and grizzle on it. The vegetables and potatoes came on on a tiny side dish and did not look appetising at all and we noticed a lot of other diners left theirs behind. We felt very rushed conveyor belt like as each course was taken away the other was put down. The wine list was overpriced and in fact having paid a total of 115 euro we really felt the meal didn’t represent the quality we expected or the price charged. I wouldn’t recommend it and would we go back the answer is NO
