Before our meal, we decided to try a gin & tonic made with Kinsale gin. Without a doubt (we drink Hendricks at home) this was the best ever! I'm sure other restaurants in Kinsale have the local gin, Jim Edwards was the first and only...place we tried it. We kick ourselves because we didn't buy a bottle to take home with us! Now to Jim Edwards. Staffing was not an issue - we had just about everyone in the restaurant stop by to ask if we were ready to order. Probably because we were enjoying the G&Ts we didn't order very quickly. I think both my daughter and I ordered the Spring Rolls as a 'main' but I'm not sure. If you can remember what you had for a meal, that pretty much says it all - nondescript. Not bad/not good. We were also unfortunate that night because a large family group of 13 from the US were seated during our meal and it was bedlam. We couldn't hear ourselves talk, and while that is no reflection on Jim Edwards, it was off putting. We just wanted to get our of there as quickly as possible. Can't really recommend this other than sit in the bar and enjoy the local Kinsale gin and have a few chips!More

Below average place for the area, way too many options around to be spending any money here. The food took over 45 minutes to arrive, tiny portions, not to be expected based on price. Seafood ay gratin, is only fish, fillets au plaice are really...small. They load you up with fries to compensate.More

This was my favorite meal in Kinsale. A very authentic restaurant with a feel of eating with the locals. Do not overlook this place!

This little somewhat hidden Gem in Kinsale is a must stop /stayover in Kinsale. Brought some American ladies on tour of the South west and enjoyed a cosy 4 night stay here. Its room only /no breakfast, but not an issue as breakfast is everywhere in...Kinsale. Beds top quality with plush duvets. Hot showers excellent with complimentary toiletries in spacious bathrooms.Everything spotless, Restful sleep assured. Downstairs is a really top notch restaurant that seafood lovers will find superb. Lovely welcoming staff at every turn. Small tip. Contact Location directly for accomodation availability. Will return soon again.More

Really bland boring food. Scallops and fish and chips were tasteless. Beet and goat cheese salad was good. Really a big disappointment.

This wasn't a bad meal, but it was not a memorable one. We'd made reservations, having missed out on two other eateries, but there were only a few tables seated here during our meal. Staff didn't really interact with us other than to take our...order and bring our food. We had to walk up and ask for the check. Food was very middle of the road, in my view, and since it is in Kinsale, that's saying something. Fish and chips were bland, seafood au gratin somehow lacked cheese flavor on top, and combined a soupy stew underneath with underseasoned potatoes on top. I probably wouldn't come here again.More

Worst experience of a 10-day Ireland trip. Arrived before the dinner rush on a Friday evening at 5:00pm and before any reservations were showing up. We did not have one but the dining room was empty except for one table and we only had a...party of two anyways. The only time we were spoken to by staff was to take our order and when we were paying our bill. To even obtain our bill, we had to physically approach staff, otherwise we would have been waiting forever. Food was the most bland of the ENTIRE trip and it wasn't close. Regular Pub food along the Wild Atlantic Way drastically puts this place to shame. Fish - No flavor. Chips - Undercooked with a nice cardboard-like flavor. Burger - Overcooked (requested Medium but was well done), zero flavor, zero toppings, zero seasoning. The only reason we wanted any of it was because we were starving after walking around Kinsale for 7+ hours. I can understand understaffed places because we had seen them along our trip. This was not the problem or the case here. The place was empty yet the staff acts and looks like they not only hate their jobs but also hate their customers. I am not sure where the good reviews came from but things must have really turned sour fast here. Avoid this place and find a spot where they might care at all. Great city though.More

We headed over after speanding St Patricks day in Cork. I had the fish & chips and it was really good but my wife had the sirloin (I usually would pass if that was my only 🥩 choice) however, it was EXCELLENT! And the owner...and staff were great!More

Gone downhill a lot, haven't been here in maybe 4 years, not a patch on what it was I had the spring roll starter it was poor, I can honestly say a frozen Aldi one would have been better just band only fur the dipping...sauce it would have had no flavor at all For main I had the seafood gratin It was similar in the fact it lacked flavor, it was very under seasoned. And also was more like a soup than a gratin there was so much sauce. I had the cheese board to finish expensive at €9.50 especially when the grapes on it were well past their best Overall very disappointingMore

Food was nice here 3 of us had the beef burger and other person had fish and chips, 2 portions of chips between 4 adults it was enough but an individual portion might be better. Glad we didn't go for a steak the table across...from us had the steak and it looked very small. Not a great selection of beers two of us ended up drinking water as there was nothing that appealed to us. Friendly staff and very clean.More

Ordered medium cooked striploin steak, came well done and texture of the meat was not great. Should have sent it back but "bottled it" and my fellow guests said their food was fine. Chips/fries, salad and other accompaniments were average pub food at best.Dissapointing as...the food here used to be of a better quality. Service was ok but nothing special.More
