Visited the Farmgate Saturday night. I had heard so much about it I was really looking forward to dining there. Arrived for an 8.30 reservation. We were told the table would be a few mins and were ask to wait in the area. We expected someone to offer us drinks and a menu to look over. 45 mins later...no drink... More

From the mushroom soup, open ham salad on brown bread, crab salad, sausages & potato for junior each were just divine. Fab selection of salads, sandwiches, fish main course, lasagne, one looked nicer than the next Not a place I would visit if in a hurry to be honest but that is because the food is prepared fresh so worth... Amazing lunch. Gorgeous coeliac options and coeliac bread to die for. Homemade curry was so tastey. Staff fantastic.

Have eaten here many times and have to say it is one of the best restaurants in Cork. The fish is to die for so fresh and cooked to perfection. I know a lot of restaurants say the produce is locally sourced but you certainly do not need to be told this in the Farmgate. It is so obvious everything... More

The t-bone was the best steak I have ever had! Everyone had a delicious meal in a group of 8. Staff were lovely. Will be back for sure!

We dined here through a local referral. The atmosphere was wonderful complete with a guitarist playing quietly in the corner. We dined as four and each had something different, all was excellent except perhaps the choice for one of our diners who was a vegitarian. They had only one choice, so it was take it or leave it. The portions... More

A few friends and I enjoyed a super dinner here last night. The starters were so good and the mains were delicious. Thus restaurant obviously sources local produce and cooks it perfectly allowing the food to do the talking. However the down side was the seating. We were "squashed" between two other groups. Even while the menus were being given... More

It was a colleagues birthday and we wanted to go somewhere different for lunch and decided on the Farm Gate. They have a great selection for lunch from sandwiches to salads and main courses. We chose the Goats cheese, Hake and Fish Pie. All were devine and the plates went back empty. To finish off we all had coffee cake... More

We found it a little difficult to spot this restaurant behind its black awning but it obviously needs no advertising to local people. The food is fabulous and there is plenty of it. Great shop for bread, cakes etc if you can face them after an excellent lunch!

The Farm Gate (which has a twin sister in the English Market in Cork city) is the perfect café for morning coffee or afternoon tea. The cakes, open sandwiches and scones are worth visiting for alone. Lunch is also very good indeed and the surroundings are chic but relaxed. It may look as if you are entering an old-fashioned bakery... More
