We stopped in for lunch as we were looking for something simple and quick. Had a glass of wine, pint of Guinness with Soup/Sandwich and an open Prawn Sandwich - all delicious and served by friendly staff. Reminds me of what pubs used to be like in Ireland - nothing fancy just good food, friendly service and nice atmosphere!

This pub was recommended by a local passing by as we were perusing the outside menu. Stopped in for a late breakfast. The fresh bread was DELISH and complimentary. The service was quick and friendly. Locals were very friendly, providing directions and recommendations for where to go and what to see.

So very tired of the same old - same old ? Every place you go to will offer you burgers and chicken goujons. Not the purple heather, much more satisfying range of sandwiches, soups and lite lunch items. I had the sausage and mash which was amazing, my eldest had the artisan platter and the youngest had toasties, My wife... More

The Purple Heather has been around forever.... a true testament to the quality of product, friendliness, efficient service and atmosphere that this mid town restaurant offers! Seafood Chowder/homemade brown bread is a must ..... the salads are delicious utilising all the best of local produce, open sandwiches are appetizing and beautifully presented. All in all a fantastic choice for a... More

We had lunch here during our trip on the Wild Atlantic Way. We had fish and chips and salmon sandwich. The lady running the place was very kind and efficient and the food was delicious. They even arranged for a fruit salad at the end!

We arrived in Kenmare on Sat 16th July and decided to have lunch while waiting for our accomodation, 5 of us ordered an assortment of sandwiches each varying between 4.50 and 5.00. The sandwiches were ok , they were 2 slices of regular loaf bread and basic filling but without any accompaniment e.g salad, crisps etc, Rip off for what... More

Touring the south-west of Ireland with my wife and two small people. Had a wonderful meal here. Could easily come back here several times a month if I was lucky enough to live here. What a beautiful place Kenmare is. Many thanks to the kitchen brigade!

We just had lunch there. The best Scones I have ever tasted. We had Crab Cocktail and an Omelette - both lovely. The owned Grainne O'Connell was wonderfully friendly and helpful.
