I met up with a friend for dinner here one evening in the summer and had a great time. The landlady was very welcoming and friendly, the locals were good for a chat, and the food was excellent. We started off with a delicious homemade soup, then had lamb rump (my friend) and pork belly (myself) both of which were... More

Lovely old pub. Great beer and good food. Enjoyed chatting to the locals. We've really enjoyed our visits this week.

It is a nice restaurant at a lovely village. It is better to book a table, if you want to go there for Sunday lunch. The room, in from at the right side, is small and can be crowded so is better to ask for a table at another room. The lunch was good and the prices are good too.

Good food, decent prices, food arrive fairly quickly (not suspiciously quick, but not too long either) although wasn't particularly busy the night we were there. Fairly nice atmosphere, we sat in a small room to the right of the front door as there appeared to be quite a few locals standing around drinking around the bar area, which was fine,... More

When you walk into the pub, it's like going back in time. I don't think it's changed in decades. Beamed ceilings and real fire. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. Lovely daily specials on the old chalk board. Excellent real beers and good wine.

After a long walk with my partner and two daughters 5 and 7 we reached the red lion at 11:40am we had picked this route specifically to stop and get some lunch and refresh before carrying on. We arrived early and waiting outside they opened late so feeling a bit chilly and hungry we rushed inside, told our daughters to... More

However good the food was, I cannot give a good review as there was a dog in the restaurant out of control. The staff were well aware of the dog; one may have been it's owner. We were at a table for 6 and on half a dozen occasions the dog had found it's way under the table unasked. It... More

We stayed in the next village to this and strolled along the country lane to have a beverage at this establishment. A rural village pub with resident Labradour who is nil by mouth . Beer lovely and pub seemed really busy for food although we didn't eat

Traditional country pub serving good fresh pub food. Lovely welcome from the bar staff and the pub's resident Labrador. Steak and ale pie was really tasty. Good selection of real ales.

Had a lovely meal, waited a while as the waitress seemed to be on her own but service friendly and polite. The desserts are worth saving a space for. Then the fun began! It was music night. At 8.30 a group of local musicians arrived with guitars, mandolin and piano accordion, with voices and a friendly approach. We listened to... More
