I took my husband for a birthday lunch as he had heard me say so many times how much I enjoyed it. We had the anti pasta sharing platter to start, delicious. I had flat iron steak, my husband had chicken supreme, he said "these chips are to die for. " The service is excellent & very friendly. Looking forwards... More

Found The Wheatsheaf on Tripadvisor and decided it would be one of the places for an evening meal on our trip to Cumbria. We weren't disappointed as the food was very good and the staff friendly and helpful. Between us we opted for the fish and chips and steak. Both were cooked perfectly and the meals were of a good... Often pop in for a quiet drink whilst visiting family. A warm and friendly village local. I am yet to try the food, but i doubt i will be disappointed.

A little gem, food is spectacular, and the local ales are great. Friendly staff and a real log fire in the winter.

Warm and friendly greeting from star and locals. A good selection of ale and open fire contribute to making this pub immediately likeable. Ale was good too, but can't comment on the food as we discovered the kitchen wasn't open, so moved on after one drink. Good collection of books for people to take and also leave for free.

We popped to the wheatsheaf for a beer, glad to find that the chef was on holiday, so had we planned to eat we wouldn,t have been able too. It's cosy, friendly and set in a great village, we have eaten here before so I know if we had been able to eat I don't think we would have been... More
