About
Hostellerie de Goujounac is a one-time coaching inn, located in the lovely centre of medieval Goujounac, 29 kilometres west of Cahors in the Lot valley. The original building was once part of the French mounted postal service as a relay station to exchange tired horses for fresh mounts. Today, owners John & Simone welcome guests to the hotel for a comfortable stay in the 12th-century historic village, and to the restaurant where you can either enjoy a locally-brewed pint or regional wine, and an exquisite weekly menu featuring fresh, seasonal, and organic produce, all locally sourced.

We recently enjoyed a wonderful evening of live music at the hostellerie with friends. I'm not usually a fan of burgers but theirs were delicious with loads of interesting fillings and very tasty, lean beef. We sat out in the warm air in the beautiful surroundings and enjoyed quick, efficient, friendly unobtrusive service. They even had cold non alcoholic beer for the drivers among us! To be repeated (many times!)

This place has it all. Great food, yummy cocktails, fantastic wine, live music in the summers, a beautiful patio, all encapsulated in a gorgeous french village. You MUST try the salmon tartare—my absolute favorite. Our kids (ages 4 and 10) are big fans of the chicken tenders and the ice cream :). And of course, the ever-charming dog duo of Charlie and Snoopy. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. Highly recommend!

We visited the Hostellerie de Goujounac shortly after the much anticipated opening, following change of ownership. Situated in the centre of the very pretty village of the same name. Newly decorated and featuring work by the local photographer Stephen Harper, the restaurant has an air of calmness and relaxation. The food doesn’t disappoint either. Currently serving food at lunchtime only but with plans to extend to evening dining. We were looking forward to dining there. Lunch is a simple set menu at 18 euro a head with coffee or tea included. We had a small tomato salad topped with cheese crumble, duck chow mien with perfectly cooked vegetables and noodles and poached pear with chocolate and flaked almonds.Unusual and imaginative for the area, it was all very delicious. All dishes are home-made with fresh ingredients by Chef James. We had a carafe of rose, which was very good. The excellent front of house team led by owner Delphine and maître d’ Thomas, are very welcoming and attentive and have created a lovely restaurant and we are looking forward to our next visit.

Delicious food. Surprising dishes. Great atmosphere, good attentive service. The band continued à capella when the power went out for a short time and the service immediately came with tea lights.

But still a winner. Pretty village on the way from somewhere to somewhere else (it was a long trip). Actually between Toulouse and Lot. Anyway, welcome stop, quick service, good food in very pleasant surroundings on the outdoor area open to the street. Car parking opposite. Take this stop, there won't be another one for a while!

We couldn’t believe our luck to get a table at this impossibly pretty place! We had the 3 course Sunday special, which included a glass of prosecco, for €38. Lovely food, particularly the starter of saffron risotto with juicy scallops, but the salmon main was also good, and the cherry tart was delicious. A friendly and laid-back place, with excellent live guitar music and dogs everywhere. Loved it.

A menu which required minimum kitchen-related activity. Nicely presented but for the most part pre-prepared food which could have been delivered from Waitrose. In such a setting, however, maybe they don't need to try harder.

Hi Geoff, Your Waitrose must be fantastic! I told the chefs about your comment and they're not sure whether they should be distraught or delighted. I told them it doesn't matter because I knew what the other three letters of your surname must be. All the best, Waitrose-of-Goujounac

After a day out at Pech Merle and Saint Cirque Lapopie, we found this restaurant on the way back to where we were staying. Excellent meal, especially the duck. Good service and reasonable prices. Well worth calling in. There is a car park just a short walk away if you cannot find a space in the village itself.

Gorgeous restaurant with great atmosphere. The owners are lovely people and the service is fantastic. The food is fabulous - one of the best meals we had during a ten week holiday in France.

From the great service to the amazing food in the prettiest of locations this restaurant ticked all of our boxes. We enjoyed an easy brunch with coffee, eggs, juice and French pastries for around 20 euros a head. Would def recommend if you are visiting this picture perfect French village.

The ambiance of the restaurant is welcoming and relaxed and the owners, Sim and John, are excellent chefs and interesting people. Their diverse backgrounds are woven into their restaurant, from the drinks (their menu boasts French and South African wines… though nothing quite beats their pitcher of Pimms during a heatwave) to the food. Each dish is a seasonal work of art - and it's deliberately different from the more "touristy" (but also good!) food found in the area. This is probably why the restaurant is frequented and loved by both locals and foreigners. I'd definitely return!

We have wanted to go to this restaurant for a while but it’s a little far from where we live just to pop in. We got there today and were not disappointed. Good, well flavored and perfectly seasoned food. Loved all of it. Maybe I shouldn’t have had the chocolate mousse after a starter and a main as it was very rich but that was greed on my part! Good service too from James and Sim, the owner. Looking forward to another opportunity to return. Thanks, L
