Holidaying in Derbyshire we visited some of the places we found good on our visit last year. We found the ambience in the Ashford Arms much changed. The furnishings had been re arranged so it appeared stark and less cosy,The steak pies had obviously been under a hot light as they were near burnt around the edge of the dish.the portion... This establishment is more than large enough to cater for large parties / groups, potentially a good venue, as was a few years back. Your basic standard pub grub and that's about it, middle of the road at its best. Our orders were mixed up, too many starters, not enough mains and the pub was quiet on this weekday night.... More

spotted the village from the A6 and well worth a visit, we did try the Bull but it was full so went here instead. Good selection of food and drinks, really nice staff. Very much like the Cotswolds of the North

Restaurant was full, so we had lunch in the garden (but we had not booked ,we called on spec). Some of our group had Beef , they all said it was very good,we both had Lamb and that was amazing ,would well recommend. Best Sunday lunch we have had out for some considerable time.

As a large party of walkers we had pre-booked our lunch as requested by the pub, and this was ready for us on arrival. There was plenty of room for us, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We even managed to get the bill sorted out between us. The food was tasty and plentiful and everyone enjoyed it. The... More

My friend and I stayed here for just under a week and were extremely well looked after! The staff were lovely, very helpful and couldn't have done more for us. The food was out of this world! The vegetable crepes were to die for!!!!! We loved the rustic charm of the inn. The only negative comment I have is that... More

Met with friends for a pre-booked lunch. The conservatory was full including ourselves, the bar was full and a lot of people were eating in the other side of the pub. However there were only 3 members of staff on to cover the bar serving drinks, take orders and serve the food. All 3 looked stressed and one was quite... More

We are usually a large group of people with mixed abilities 14 of us on this occasion and we always like to pre order food before we go which we did without a problem through email, although response time wasn't extremely fast we still got a response from staff. In the email i mentioned that we have people with mixed... More

Have been here before and came back this month and the food was just as good as I remember. The staff still as friendly as ever. Lovely pub in a lovely place. Good prices too.
