Slightly unkempt and untidy and a stale cooking smell dominating in one of the bars. One bar waiter tried to provide a welcome and service, to his credit. The food was indifferent to the point of embarrassing: beige steak (not enough heat) and limp, stodgy chips.

Staying local, so went to this pub for an evening meal, was told there would be a wait of 30 minutes.......an hour later still waiting. Asked for money back. Timed a chap who came in just for a drink, it took him over 30 minutes until he was served at the bar! We went to the Wheatsheaf in Bakewell instead,... More

Decided to eat there following great walk in Monsal Dale, yesterday (29/7/16). Really wished we hadn't waited around until opening time at 18:00. As with previous comment, we were not made welcome by barman or staff (apart from one of the new girls waiting on). Tried to charge us for one dessert which they apparently had run out of. Main... The bull is a good village pub with a fine range of Robinsons beers. Dizzy blonde can be excellent when On form. Cosy rooms with real fires. Nice to sit outside on a summer's evening

Found this place by total chance. Went in and checked the menu. All sounded nice at the usual price of around £10.00 each. Ordered the homemade burger, chips, salad, onion rings and relish. When it came it was well above the standard size meal, looked and smelled good. Tasted even better. The burger was clearly homemade and the meat was... More
