We went for dinner at this restaurant and it was superb. The staff were uber friendly and informative. They had a gluten free menu with lots of dishes to choose from and the food was very tasty, piping hot, with good portion sizes. The free Wifi and USB charge points were an added bonus after being on a boat all... More

It is apparent that The Canal Tavern has to compete with other premises with more favourable locations, but for what they make up for in quantity The Canal Tavern makes up... More

I've just eaten a Boatman's (Ploughman's) lunch in the Canal Tavern in Bradford in Avon and I can honestly say that it's the best Ploughman's I've ever had!!!!! (And I've had a few) With a range of cheeses, stunning Wiltshire ham and fresh crusty bread; the crowning glory was the home made pickles and coleslaw. All served by very friendly... More

The food was hot and tasted excalent, however the attention to service could have been better, also as there were external seating areas we were surprised that they allowed vapour smoking in the dinning area..

Went with a friend after a long day, just wanted a drink and something to eat. The barman was very friendly and engaging. His recommendation was the Steak Pie. Our drinks were chilled and tasted great. When the food arrived it was hot and looked good. The steak pie was served with a good portion of veg and new potatoes.... More

It was a very warm summer's day and everywhere was crowded. Three of us managed to find a seat at this pub. The downside was that there was only one overworked barman (mentioned in another review). The food was very good - the staff helpful an polite - the atmosphere, great. We ate a ham sandwich - a beef bagette... More

It was a busy weekend in town as the civil war weekend was in full flow. The menu looked ok so we waited to order at the bar, and waited.... and waited. The bar man was cheery but under a lot of stress taking food and drinks orders at two bars. He said that someone else was coming to see... More

Stopped off here for lunch after a walk around Bradford on Avon. Friendly welcome and a good menu selection. Our meals were well presented, very enjoyable and we will certainly eat here again.
