My wife and I were on our way north and needed lunch. The burger was a bit puck-like although the chips were really good; my wife's vegetarian Indian dish was lacking flavor. The place was very busy and service was slow, although we were told that up front as we ordered. Just fine if you need a meal but I... More

For sure it's a 'chain' pub - Old English Inns being part of the Greene King empire, and it's a standard menu across the chain. However, we've eaten at Old English Inns pubs several times and have to say that the quality of the cooking at the Stag is by far the best we've encountered. Everything cooked to perfection and... Great meal last night for 19 of us. Well done to the stag for prompt service and excellent food. Can recommend salmon. Also extra little touches made it a great night. Thank you

Very good food but let down by very slow service seamed a total lack of staff for a Friday night with only two waitress on duty plus they had a large booking in a s well. Large car park and nice atmosphere.

I took my aunt to eat at The Stag but was disappointed as the menu was the same as The Garrick in Stratford that we had eaten at the previous week. We didn't rate the menu very interesting the first time! 250 ml of Zinfandel was £6!

Just called in for a quick drink. Pleasant surroundings. Knowledgeable bar staff . Ended up staying about 2 hours. Will certainly go again.

Menu has several traditional favourites. The fish and chips was the best we have ever had and the sausage and mash was well above standard. They also have a better than average selection of wines on the menu. Well worth a visit!

Went here for early evening meal and didn't disappoint. Fantastic service throughout (particularly Poppy, Simon & Danni). Nice interior and comfortable seats. 2 menus to choose from (value and normal). Extremely good prices on the value menu so we thought we'd try these out and have to say, the food was good! We often spend a huge fortune when dining... More
