This place just gets better ! The Timothy Taylor beers are well kept and a great accompaniment to a Sunday roast. The lamb roast dinner just falls apart and the other half informs me the beef is equally as tender. Lovely al dente green beans , cabbage and sugar snap peas,a bed of creamy mash and a roast spud plus... More

Typical old fashioned stone floored pub, serving a wide variety of foods, all served quickly presented well and to a high standard

Welcoming atmosphere and good cask ales. Will visit again. In a central location ideal for a meal and a pint. I believe food is excellent also although we did not eat there.

Was not Rammed on a Tuesday Evening, but the Staff were a Bit Sheep'ish about seating our Flock of ten travellers. The Manager intervened and agreed for us to be Rounded Up and Penned in the Function Room Area. (Great British 'Managed' Pub of the Year 2014, but not evident anymore, unfortunately) The Woolly Sheep Fodder was Fresh and Fabulous... More

We visit The Woolly often for drinks but usually on our own. On this occasion we brought family with us who are not local and they really enjoyed the pub. We had a variety of hot sandwiches and chips for late lunch and had no complaints. As usual the Timothy Taylor beer was spot on and the pub was busy... More

Had melted Brie which was rather too runny.. The risotto resembled more of a rice pudding, very stodgy, my husband's gammon was very small. Would have expected better for the price.

Called for a drink, and the Timothy Taylors real ale was great. I had called to check it out for a meal that night, menu looked great but couldnt belive the prices! We have paid less in London. Please remember this is a pub in a small town.

Recommended by locals, this 'no pretences' dining establishment located right in the middle of town with easy parking lived up to its reputation as offering very good value pub meals.
