Went for the 4 pm sunset dinner... views and food did not disappoint! Cocktails were great, and staff was well versed with wine selection!

Breathtaking views and incredible service. One tip is that you can get similar dishes for less at Monkeypod kitchen (same owner) , but you do not get the views. I would definitely suggest making a reservation well in advance.

Merriman's is apparently a well-known fine dining establishment on Maui (also, the same folks founded MonkeyPod in Wailea). We had an good meal, they were attentive to my dietary restrictions, and its a beautiful drive on the way there (on the way back you can...do some stargazing). Overall service was prompt and the waiter was knowledgable about the dishes. I wouldn't drive out here from Wailea for the food alone - there are plenty of similarly priced and similar quality fine dining options in South Maui. However if you are staying in the Lahaina area, this is definitely the place to have the fine-dining itch scratched. Early reservations are a must if you want a view with your meal.More

View -5 stars Food-4 stars Service -4 stars $9 bush league kitchen surcharge on a $300 meal. -negative 5 stars. You can do better this is simply stupid practice. Add it to your already stupid high prices if you must. Any restaurants that do this...I just take it off the tip which makes you feel subhuman but the point must be made.More

No question this is the most beautiful spot for a restaurant, looking out at the sea at sunset. The staff treated us well, directing us to the outdoor bar to wait for our table, even though we had our 11 year old grandson with us....As we were finishing our drinks we were called to our table by a staff member coming up to us to tell us in person that they were ready for us. Our meals were tasty, but it took nearly an hour to receive our food from when we had ordered it, the reason this was not rated higher. Our grandson decided he needed dessert after that long wait, so he ordered the “sampler” plate with one of everything—good thing he shared it!More

Location, location. location-is not just a real estate mantra. It certainly pertains to Merriman's Kapalua as well. We had long-time reservations for our last night in the area just as he did four years previous. This time our table was not ready when we arrived...and we were taken to the outdoor bar area where you have little choice but to get a drink which run $20 plus each. Even there we got one of last tables and lady in charge tried to take away one of our chairs even with a full drink at the spot on our table. Sunset came while still at the outside bar and as a result everyone was up blocking our sunset view. Four years ago we were seated at a open air window table in the restaurant with no one blocking our view. What a difference! When seated we were placed at a table in the middle of the restaurant facing the pleasant musician but without any real view of the ocean. The menu is good with a variety of choices and a extensive wine list. Prices are high especially for the wine choices. Food is tasty but subject to uneven cooking. Two of us ordered rib eye steaks medium well- one was brought to the table well (overcooked) and one was brought at the same time medium rare (way undercooked). At these prices, frankly that is unacceptable. Service was fine though we noticed a lot of empty tables when we arrived and thru our meal-either people did not show up for their reservation or staff was not organized enough to get folks seated timely (imo it was more likely the latter). Still a good place to eat but have a reservation for about 30 to 45 minutes before sunset; request a window seat in the dining room and bring a fat wallet!More

This was our best meal on Maui. Not only was the service and atmosphere amazing, but the food was delicious - mai tai's and bread pudding and ribeye ... all top notch. But a separate call out to the staff in particular. We arrived at...5pm when I thought I made made a reservation. Apparently my reservation had not gone through - my mistake. But the hostess and staff were able to accommodate us and were so kind. We had grandparents with us with limited mobility and they were able to find us a seat where they could enjoy their grandkids and the food and the view. I am grateful for the kindness of the staff. But, also have to give a huge shout out to our waiter Tony and the cook. It was all so wonderful and memorable. Thank you!More

Our very large group went to Merriman's for the sunset dinner time. we had to make separate reservations but we were all in approximately the same area. The food was very good, but the service was outstanding. Our server was so enthusiastic about making sure...we had a worthwhile experience. He didn't hover but made sure everything was the best it could be. Never got to see the sunset because of the cloud cover and rain showers but we had a very enjoyable time.More

Amazing views. Excellent food. Attentive staff. Highly recommend the poke, Harissa scallops, Moroccan shrimp and the pineapple bread pudding. Jasmine was fantastic. Added bonus was Solomon our Sommelier. He recommended our French Provence wine and included a story of how he was introduced to the...wine. A wonderful and memorable evening.More

Breathtaking views from a prime location if you’re fortunate enough to get a table inside (we weren’t and sat at the last table outside along the edge next to wait station despite getting a reservation several months in advance). Chocolate purse dessert was very good...S was the goat cheese on the beat salad. Everything else was very average at a very above average price. White fish at Hula Grill was more favorable at a fraction of the price. Some places are worth the price (e.g. Mama’s Fish House) but our meal here wasn’t. Had to try it because it is so highly rated but its a one and done for us.More

One of the best dinner's I've had in my life. Worth every penny spent. The drinks were some of the best. Had Tako A L'Escargot, the Mahi Mahi, Kanpachi, Scallops, and Clams. Every dish was cooked to perfection. The staff was wonderful, and very knowledgeable....Celebrated our wedding anniversary, and had the best seat in the house. Will definitely revisit this place.More

Fabulous location and setting, the decor trendy but the food was very disappointing. For appetizers we had the Chow Fun Noodles with Pork & Shrimp, Tako À L'Escargot and Hawaiian 'Ahi Poke. The Chow Fun had a sausage that did not add to the dish....The flavors were mixed into an indeterminate taste as well as being overly spicy and very salty. The Tako was well cooked, not hard and chewy but again the flavors were not distinct like the Chow Fun and again left with a lingering salty after taste. The Ahi in the Poke was fresh but the dressing had a sour bite. For the main course it was the Fish Special, Wok-Charred 'Ahi and the Harissa-Spiced Scallops & Manila Clams. Fish Special was well cooked but the accompanying sauce was almost tasteless. The Ahi was normal but also a a bit salty. The best seemed to the Scallops and Clams which were not over cooked and this time the bland Orange-Saffron Butter Sauce did not hide the flavor of the scallops and clams.More

Made reservations to have dinner here on our last night in Maui and it was the best decision we made. All the items we had were delicious but what was even more amazing was our server Gary! He really made our dinner experience the best!...He was so attentive and made sure we were taken care of throughout our dinner. Everything he recommended was delicious and we will be back next time we are on the island! Thank you Gary! I almost forgot the views were incredible here too!More
